SCSU's 800 free relay claims 4th place finish at GLIAC Championships

The St. Cloud State University men's swim and dive team's 800 free relay squad of Matheus Laperriere, Sam Artz, Andres Hernandez and Joel Huth led the Huskies on day three at the GLIAC Championships on Feb. 21 with a fourth place finish in a time of 6:48.47.
The GLIAC Championships are being held this week at the Gerspacker Regional Aquatic Center on the campus of Saginaw State University in Center, Mich. Â
In the 100 breaststroke, Jayden Porter placed fifth with a time of 56.41 and Kyle Weis placed sixth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 50.47. SCSU's other top finishers on Feb. 21, included Sam Artz with a seventh place time of 1:53.78 in the 200 butterfly and David Clossey with a 15th place time of 4:40.96 in the 500 freestyle.
In the team standings, SCSU is in fourth place with 272 points. Grand Valley State leads the race with 725 points followed by Wayne State with 542 points, Northern Michigan with 483.5 points, Saginaw Valley with 212 and Ashland with 178.5 points.
The Huskies will complete its time at the GLIAC championship on Saturday, Feb. 22. Events on the final day of competition will include the 1650 free, 100 free, 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 3M diving and the 400 free relay.
