Salquist scored game-winner for second straight game, Hrenak makes 22 saves
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – No. 2/2 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey (4-1-0, 0-0-0 NCHC) outlasted No. 4/4 Minnesota (2-1-0, 0-0-0 CCHA), 2-1, on Friday evening at 3M Arena at Mariucci in Minneapolis, Minn. The Gophers had just tied the score at 1-1 in the third period when freshman forward Mason Salquist (Grand Forks, N.D.) struck once again, scoring his second game-winning goal in as many games to vault the Huskies to victory.

Senior goalie David Hrenak (Povazska Bystrica, Slovakia) continued his remarkable start to the season, stopping 22 of 23 shots which included a weakside save with time running out to seal the win.

TURNING POINT

Salquist's game-winning goal was able to swing momentum back in the Huskies' favor in the third period, scoring just over three minutes after Chaz Lucius' goal tied the score 5:42 into the third period. With just over 11 minutes remaining in the game, sophomore forward Joe Molenaar (Minnetonka, Minn.) raced up the right side of the rink and beat a Gopher defender to the front of the net. Minnesota goalie Jack LaFontaine was able to stop Molenaar's shot, but not Salquist's, who was right there to grab the rebound and sneak a shot to the back of the net for the goal that made the difference.
