Foley, Torve bestowed NSIC weekly honors

BURNSVILLE, MINN. - The awards continue to roll in for St. Cloud State's volleyball's Kenzie Foley (Sergeant Bluff, Iowa / Sergeant Bluff-Luton) and Maddy Torve (Loretto, Minn. / Heritage Christian Academy). After earning First Team All-NSIC honors last week, the duo earned the conference's final Offensive Player and Setter of the Week honors, the conference announced Saturday afternoon.
Foley was named the NSIC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, while Torve earned Setter of the Week honors for an unprecedented fifth time in 2021. The duo earned the honors after helping the Huskies earn the NSIC regular season title outright and close the regular season with an overall record of 24-4 with a 19-1 mark in NSIC play. Foley was especially impressive, serving as St. Cloud State's top hitter in wins over #15 Wayne State and Augustana. The sophomore outside averaged 4.88 kills and 3.88 digs per set over the weekend, racking up 39 total kills and 27 digs while hitting .372 from the pin. In Friday's 3-1 win over the Wildcats, Foley hit .444 with 19 kills, nine digs, two aces and three blocks and broke the record for first year kills in the process. She then proceeded to tally 20 kills and 18 digs in the Huskies 3-1 win over Augustana.
Torve takes home her fifth NSIC Setter of the Week honor after another record setting weeking for St. Cloud State. The fifth year setter averaged 12.50 assists per set over the weekend and piloted the Huskies to a .247 team hitting percentage. In the team's win over Wayne State, Torve recorded a double-double with 48 assists and 10 digs and became the first setter since 2000 to eclipse the 4000 career assists mark. She proceeded to record 52 assists with eight digs and three blocks in Saturday's win over the Vikings.
Foley, Torve and the remainder of the St. Cloud State volleyball team will be back in action this Thursday, as the team takes on Southwest Minnesota State in the opening round of the NSIC Tournament. First serve is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT at the Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
