GREENVILLE, S.C. - The awards continue to roll in for St. Cloud State University volleyball's Maddy Torve (Loretto, Minn. / Heritage Christian Academy) and Kenzie Foley (Sergeant Bluff, Iowa / Sergeant Bluff-Luton). After being named AVCA First Team All-Americans on Tuesday, the duo landed on the D2CCA Volleyball All-America teams, the organization announced Wednesday afternoon. Torve was voted First Team All-America, while Foley was a Third Team All-American.Â
Torve and Foley become the first St. Cloud State student-athletes to ever earn D2CCA All-America honors, adding to a long list of "firsts" the duo has accomplished in 2021. Torve, in particular, has made plenty of history in 2021, as she adds this to a long list of accomplishments. The fifth year setter paced the Huskies to the best win percentage in program history, guiding them to a 27-5 record with a 19-1 mark in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play. With Torve at the helm, St. Cloud State hit .270 as a team during the season and ranked top-10 in the nation in team kills, team hitting percentage, team kills/set and team assists. As an individual, Torve was the top setter in the NSIC, as she led the league with 1386 assists and an 11.75 assists/set average.Â
After being named an AVCA First Team All-American and the Division II Freshman of the Year on Tuesday, Foley adds D2CCA Third Team All-America honors to her already stacked resume. In her first season of collegiate volleyball, Foley recorded 451 kills in 31 matches, averaging 3.92 kills/set. She hit .295 from the outside pin and tallied 350 digs during the season, making her one of the best six-rotation players in the NSIC. In addition to leading the team in kills and kills per set, Foley ranked top-five in blocks, aces digs and receptions, and ranked top-25 in the nation in both kills and kills per set entering the NCAA Regional.Â
The D2CCA All-America teams are voted on by sports information directors and athletic communications specialists working in Division II. All First Team All-Region honorees automatically qualify for All-America consideration and are voted on at the conclusion of the NCAA Regionals.
