Huskies set to host No. 2/3 Wisconsin

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Hockey continues WCHA play this weekend with a two-game home series against No. 2/3 Wisconsin. The Huskies and Badgers will open the series Friday at 6:00 p.m. with a 3:00 p.m. CT start on Saturday at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.

SCSU split last weekend at Bemidji State, earning three conference points with a 2-1 win on Friday before dropping a 2-1 contest on Saturday. Emma Polusny (2.79 GAA, .922 SV%) passed Laura Gieselman to become the program's all-time leader in saves last weekend, enjoying a fantastic pair of performances with 37 and 40 stops. Taylor Lind leads the Huskies in points with a 6-13-19 line, while Emma Gentry is the goal leader with 12 to go with five apples for 17 points. Gentry earned All-Tournament Team honors in Pittsburgh with a three-goal, two-assist showing. Mackenzie Bourgerie (4-5-9) owns a career-high nine points, finding a home as a playmaking center. On the blue line, Dayle Ross leads SCSU with 39 blocks while McKenna Wesloh (1-5-6) leads all Huskies defenders in points. Sanni Ahola posted a .926 save percentage in her last conference series at Minnesota State and leads the goaltending room with four wins.
Reigning NCAA Champion Wisconsin enters the series 18-3-3 after being swept at Ridder Arena last weekend by Minnesota. The Badgers fell from the No. 1 spot in both polls for the first time all season after the sweep, now standing third in the WCHA standings. Casey O'Brien leads in goals and points with a 21-18-39 line, joined by Daryl Watts (16-19-35) and Makenna Webster (15-20-35) as Badgers with 30+ points. Madi Wheeler (10-13-23), Nicole LaMantia (6-15-21) and Sophie Shirley (6-14-20) each have 20-plus points on the season. LaMantia owns a team-high 59 blocks while Grace Bowlby (1-15-16) has 49. Goaltender Kennedy Blair is 16-3-3 on the year with a 1.37 goals against and a .934 save percentage.
St. Cloud State hosts Minnesota-Duluth on Tuesday, February 1 then closes out the upcoming weekend with a home-and-home against St. Thomas.
