
St. Cloud State Men's Basketball Dams Beavers in a 81-70 Victory

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State men's basketball team took it to the Beavers Thursday evening in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) showdown. The Huskies knocked the Beavers dam down in a 81-70 victory. Matthew Willert led the scoring with 22 points while Tommy Chatman put up 20 points.
GAME SUMMARY
The Huskies dominated the game right off the bat. St. Cloud went on a ten point unanswered scoring run to start off the game. With 12:35 left in the first half, the Huskies led 20-6. The Beavers managed to bring it back to within four with six minutes left to go but the Huskies took the moment away from the Beavers to use it to their advantage to close out the half with a 15 point lead to go into the locker 48-33. Matthew Willert and Tommy Chatman broke into the double-digits in the first 20 minutes each putting up 14 points.
During the second half, St. Cloud's offense hit a lull as they had hard time getting anything going while Bemidji State chipped away at the Huskies lead to bring it within three with 11:32 left. A Matthew Willert layup through traffic gave the Huskies their momentum back to go on an 11 point unanswered scoring run. St. Cloud closed the night with a 81-70 victory over the Beavers. Three Huskies ended the night scoring in the double-digits.
