
Offense Hangs 7 in No. 4 St. Cloud State Men’s Hockey’s Win over Miami

Six Huskies score multiple points, SCSU extends win streak to six
OXFORD, Ohio – Six different Huskies scored multiple points in the sixth straight win for No. 4 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey (14-3-0, 7-2-0 NCHC), who beat Miami (5-10-2, 1-7-1 NCHC), 7-3, on Friday night at Steve Cady Arena in Oxford, Ohio. Senior forward Jami Krannila (Nokia, Finland) led the offensive charge for the Huskies with a career-high four points, scoring two goals with two assists.
With the seven goals scored, St. Cloud State has now scored five or more goals in four consecutive games for the first time since Nov. 17 – Dec. 2, 2017, when its swept Colorado College (6-1 & 5-1) and Omaha (7-4 & 5-0).
TURNING POINT
The Huskies were able to grab momentum early in the game, jumping out to a 3-0 lead with scores in the first eight minutes of the game. Senior defenseman Dylan Anhorn (Calgary, Alberta) got the scoring started with a quick power play goal just 49 seconds in the game. His one-timer off assists from freshman forward Adam Ingram (West St. Paul, Manitoba) and senior forward Kyler Kupka (Camrose, Alberta) gave St. Cloud State to early 1-0 lead. Just two minutes later, Krannila made the score 2-0 as he hammered home an Anhorn centering pass from right outside the crease to make the score 2-0.
Anhorn would find the back of the net once again five minutes later, as he tipped in a rebound off a shot from Krannila at the 7:54 mark of the period to give the Huskies a 3-0 lead. St. Cloud State controlled the pace for the entire period, outshooting the RedHawks, 12-5, in the opening frame.

- Senior forward Veeti Miettinen (Espoo, Finland) had a three-point night with a goal and two assists.
- St. Cloud State won its six consecutive game with the 7-3 win over Miami, its second six-game win streak of the season after starting the season 6-0. The last time the Huskies had two six-game win streaks in a season was 2018-19 when St. Cloud State won six straight between Nov. 2-17, 2018, and 10 straight between Feb. 9 – March 22, 2019.
- With the win, St. Cloud State improves to 30-16-4 all-time against Miami and 9-9-3 against the RedHawks in Oxford.
- The Huskies also improve to 11-1-0 when scoring first, 11-0-0 when leading after two periods, 9-0-0 when outshooting its opponent and 10-2-0 when scoring on the power play.
- St. Cloud State's offense remained red hot with its seven-goal output, its fourth straight game scoring five or more goals. The last time the Huskies scored five or more goals in four consecutive games was Nov. 17 – Dec. 2, 2017, when its swept Colorado College (6-1 & 5-1) and Omaha (7-4 & 5-0).
- The Huskies 25-goal output over the last four games is its most since it scored 28 between Dec. 31, 2021 – Jan. 22, 2022, when its swept Bemidji State (4-1 & 5-2) and Miami (11-1 & 8-0).
- St. Cloud State converted 3-of-4 chances on the power play, matching its season-high for power play goals in a game from its 3-of-8 performance with a man advantage against St. Thomas on Oct. 2.
- Krannila produced a four-point game to match a career-high with two goals and two assists. He matches his career high from scoring four points against Minnesota State on Dec. 28, 2019.
- The Husky senior scored two goals for the third time this season and the seventh time in his career while recording two assists for the third time this season and the eighth time in his career.
- Anhorn matched his career-highs in goals and points with two and three, respectively. He recorded his second career game with two goals after also doing so against Princeton on Feb. 2, 2022, while he recorded three points for the third time in his career and first since against St. Thomas on Oct. 1 to open the season.
- With three points, Anhorn now has 21 points on the season, a new career-best, surpassing his mark from 2021-22 with Union where he scored 20 points (seven goals / 13 assists).
- Miettinen scored three points with a goal and two assists, matching career-highs in assists and points. He has now recorded two assists four times this season and seven times in his career, while he's reached three points twice this season and six times in his career.
- Miettinen's 14 assists on the season is a new career-high, surpassing his mark of 13 in 2020-21 and 2021-22.
- Senior forward Zach Okabe (Okotoks, Alberta) had a three-point game with a goal and two assists, matching a season-high that he has now reached three times this season. His 12th goal of the season is now a new career-high, surpassing his mark of 11 in 2021-22.
- Kupka had two points with his fifth goal and eighth assist of the season. His five goals match a career-best mark from scoring five goals as a junior in 2021-22.
- Ingram matched his career-best mark with two assists, the second game in-a-row he has hit that mark.
- Sophomore defenseman Jack Peart (Grand Rapids, Minn.) recorded an assist to extend his point streak to a career-best six games.
- Senior forward Grant Cruikshank (Delafield, Wis.) and senior defenseman Ondrej Trejbal (Hamry nad Sazavau, Czech Republic) each recorded an assist in the game, the eighth and fourth of their season, respectively.
- Senior goalie Jaxon Castor (Phoenix, Ariz.) improved to 7-2-0 on the season with 18 saves in net, the eighth time this season he's made at least 15 saves.
