ST. CLOUD, MINN. - The St. Cloud State University women's hockey team announced the addition of two transfers to its 2022-23 roster. Former University of New Hampshire forward Avery Myers and University of Minnesota-Duluth goalie Jojo (Viola) Chobak are set to join the Huskies roster next season, the program announced Tuesday morning.
Both Myers and Chobak bring a wealth of experience to St. Cloud, Minnesota and will both have three seasons of eligibility. Myers, a sophomore forward for the Wildcats, joins St. Cloud State after a career year at New Hampshire, while Chobak ventures south after serving as the Bulldogs backup tender for most of the 2021-22 season.
Meet the newest members of the Huskies women's hockey team:
Avery Myers (Fargo, N.D. / Fargo South / Minnesota Ice Cougars):
A versatile forward from Fargo, North Dakota, Myers returns to her roots by joining St. Cloud State's roster in 2022-23. A member of the 2021 Hockey East All-Academic team, Myers tallied 10 total points in her two seasons at New Hampshire with limited ice time. As a freshman, Myers posted a team-high .235 shooting percentage, scoring four goals on 17 shots, including a two-goal performance against Providence on February 6. As a sophomore, she was equally as productive, recording four points on 28 shots.
Jojo (Viola) Chobak (Chicago, Ill. / Chicago Young Americans):
A stalwart goalie from Chicago, Illinois, Chobak joins the Huskies staff after an outstanding season with the Bulldogs. As a sophomore, Choback appeared in 20 games with 14 starts in net, serving as Minnesota-Duluth's primary goalie when Emma Soderberg left for the 2022 Beijing Olympics. In those games, Choback posted a 10-4-1 record with three shutouts and 348 total saves. She was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's (WCHA) Goalie of the Month in January after posting a .934 save percentage during the month with a shutout win over #2 Ohio State. Chobak was also a member of the 2021-22 national runner up team and ranked second amongst all Bulldogs goalies in minutes (906:38), goals against average (1.79) and total saves (348).
