Huskies Swim & Dive Opens 2022-23 Season with Successful Red & Black Meet

Many Swimmers & Divers Shine in Annual Event
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The St. Cloud State Swim & Dive team opened their season with a successful showing at the Red vs. Black Intersquad meet last weekend, with the red team coming out on top.
Team Scores:
On Friday, the Red team obtained the lead beating the Black team 195 to 139. On Saturday, the Red team continued to build on their lead and beat the black team 390 to 314.

Next, the Huskies travel to Omaha, Nebraska to compete against the University of Nebraska-Omaha on Friday September 30th.

Top Huskies
- Junior Raf Hendriks dominated his events, finishing first in all four of his events with times of 49.92 in the 100-yard backstroke, 1:48.40 in the 200-yard backstroke, 23.32 in the 50- yard backstroke, and 9:45.20 in the 1000-yard freestyle.
- Senior Abe Townley finished first two of his events with a time of 20.78 in the 50-yard freestyle and 22.93 in the 50-yard fly. Townley fell second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.92. Junior Emile Dost overtook Townley in the event posting a time of 52.57.
- Sophomore Dylan Apicello made an impact in the diving events earning first place in both 1 and 3-meter.
- Freshman Izzy Koebele made an impact in her first meet at St. Cloud, earning first place in both the 1000-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle.
- Senior diver Meredith Matchinsky was able to earn first place in both 1 and 3-meter diving. Scoring 268.50 in 1-meter and 275.70 in 3-meter diving.
