
St. Cloud State Women's Basketball Takes Down USF 61-42

Huskies dominate fourth period, out score Cougars 19-9
SIOUX FALLS, SD - The St. Cloud State women's basketball team took down the Sioux Falls Cougars Saturday evening at the Stewart Center. The Huskies dominant fourth period sealed the 61-42 victory for St. Cloud. Nine Huskies added points to the board, two scored in double-digits and one claimed a double-double.
GAME SUMMARY
The first period was a close contest as each team tried to secure the lead. St. Cloud would go up by six after Elizabeth Wortz sank a three to give the Huskies the lead at the 3:31 mark of the first. USF would add a couple baskets and SCSU would close out the period up 15-14. During the second period, the Huskies would out score USF 13-7 to close out the half up 28-21 over the Cougars.
Back on the court for the third, the Huskies would go up by seven after a layup by Katrina Theis at the 9:08 mark. USF would then go on a 8-0 run to take over the lead 31-30 at 6:23. Dru Henning responded with a three-point jumper to put the Huskies back on top 33-31. SCSU went on a 9-2 run to close out the third up 42-33. The Huskies would dominate the fourth period out scoring the Cougars 19-9 holding USF to a .273 from the field. SCSU would hold a 21 point lead with 42 seconds left to seal the game and close out the night with a 61-42 victory.

The Huskies are back home next weekend for a pair of NSIC South matchups at Halenbeck Hall. St. Cloud will host Augustana and Wayne State Jan. 27 and Jan. 28.
