St. Cloud State Men's Basketball Not Enough Against RV Minnesota State

Huskies fall 78-65 against RV Mavericks
MANKATO, Minn. - The St. Cloud State men's basketball team's late second half comeback was just not enough to take down the RV Minnesota State Mavericks. The Huskies fell 78-65 to the Mavericks Friday evening at the Taylor Center in Mankato, MN. Eight Huskies added points to the board with two scoring in the double-digits.

GAME SUMMARY
St. Cloud ended the opening 20 minutes down 38-23 to Minnesota State. The Huskies were up 5-4 just three minutes into the game but fell into a dry spell as they went scoreless for the next seven minutes while Mankato went on a 16-0 run to go up 20-5 over SCSU. St. Cloud struggled to execute on their shots shooting only .233 from the field and ended the half down 15. Matthew Willert led with 13 points.

The Huskies opened up the second half looking to swing the game back in their favor. St. Cloud went on a 20-9 scoring run going 5-6 from behind the arc in the first seven minutes of the second half to bring the game back within four points. At the 5:44 mark, Luke Taylor nailed a critical layup in the paint which tied the game at 57 each. Taylor was fouled on his basket and was sent to the foul line for an extra shot which he capitalized on to give the Huskies a one-point lead. Minnesota State then took the game back and outscored the Huskies 20-7 to close out the game. St. Cloud was unable to keep up against the Mavericks offense and fell 78-65 in the end. Luke Taylor led the second half scoring with 14 points.
