St. Cloud State Men’s Basketball Earns First Conference Road Win

Huskies fend off late push by UMary, pick up 68-61 victory
BISMARCK, N.D. – St. Cloud State Men's Basketball (5-4 overall, 2-3 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) was able to escape with its first win in 10 days, taking down UMary, 68-61 on Tuesday afternoon at the McDowell Activity Center in Bismarck.
The Marauders (5-5, 1-4 NSiC) made a strong push late in the second half, tying the game on two occasions in the last four minutes after trailing by as much as 10 in the second half but SCSU was able to hold on to earn its first conference victory on the road this season.

- Senior Matt Willert (Buffalo, Minn.) scored a game-high 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 23 minutes off the bench. He scored 6 of the last 7 Huskies points, helping them pull away in the last 2:15 of the game.
- Freshman Lucas Morgan (Sydney, Australia) recorded an 11-point-10 rebound double-double.
- Graduate student Luke Taylor (Germantown, Wis.) scored 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field and grabbed four rebounds.
- With the win, the Huskies move to 19-13 all-time against UMary.
- SCSU led the game in field goal percentage (41.8%-39.7%), three-point percentage (18.5%-14.3%), free-throw percentage (70.0%-57.1%), field goals (28-25), three pointers (5-3), steals (6-3), points off turnovers (13-9), points in the paint (44-32) and bench points (30-16).
- UMary led the game in free throws (8-7), total rebounds (14-33—47 – 7-28—35), assists (12-11), blocks (3-1), second chance points (13-9) and fast break points (11-6).
- Willert scored 15+ for the third consecutive game. In all three games he has tied season highs making six field goals and three three-pointers. In today's game he also tied his season high for field goals attempted (13) and set new season-highs in three-pointers attempted (nine) and rebounds (seven.)
- Morgan recorded his second career double-double, recording 11 points (5-of-9 from the field) and 10 rebounds.
- Taylor scored 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field. He scored 10+ points for the 32ndt time as a Husky and the eighth time this season (seventh game in a row). He has recorded a steal in each of the past three games.
- Freshman Jamiir Allen (Milwaukee, Wis.) scored nine points and tied his career-highs in field goals made (four) and field goals attempted (10) in 24 minutes off the bench.
- Freshman Anish Ramlall (Rosemont, Minn.) scored eight points and tied his career-high, dishing out four assists.
- Sophomore Andre Renta (Husdon, Wis.) tied season-highs in field goals made (two) and field goals attempted (five), free throws made (two) and free throws attempted (two). He recorded a steal in his second consecutive game.
- Freshman Wyatt Hawks (White Bear Lake, Minn.) scored four points (2-of-3 from the field) and grabbed two rebounds in 14 minutes off the bench.
- Graduate student Craig Steele (Portage, Wis.) grabbed a season-high three rebounds and tied his season- high for three-point attempts (two).
