St. Cloud State Men's Basketball Unable to Hang On at No. 19 MSU Moorhead

Huskies fall 83-68
MOORHEAD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State men's basketball team held their own against a tough MSU Moorhead team until a late second half jump by the Dragons held off the Huskies 83-68 at the Nemzek Fieldhouse. St. Cloud shot .453 from the field with four athletes scoring in double-digit marks.

GAME SUMMARY
The first half would end with the Huskies down 37-34 to the Dragons as St. Cloud stayed within reach of MSU Moorhead. The Huskies would hold the lead for the first eight minutes until a 7-0 run put the Dragons up 19-17 at the 10:29 mark. The largest lead MSUM would hold over the Huskies was eight points. Ryan Bagley had the opportunity to make it a one-point game as he was fouled on a missed three-point shot with just four seconds left. Bagley converted one out of three shots to end the half. St. Cloud shot a .500 from the field while MSUM shot a .403. Luke Taylor put up 12 points in the first 20 minutes.

St. Cloud was unable to hold off the Dragons as they opened the second half with a 6-0 run to go up 43-34 over the Huskies. Tony Dahl would bring it to a two-point game after driving past a defender to sink a layup in the paint to make it 55-53 at the 11:44 mark. The Huskies would struggle to push past the Dragons as MSUM would jump up by 15 points, 80-65, with just over two minutes left. St. Cloud would be unable to close the gap to fall 83-68 in the end. St. Cloud shot .419 from the field in the second half while Taylor, Bagley, and Dahl each put up eight points in the second.

The Huskies will return home to Halenbeck Hall for their last full weekend of home matchups before ending the season with a home-and-home. St. Cloud will host Minot State Friday, Feb. 10 and UMary Saturday, Feb. 11.
