St. Cloud State Wrestling announces 2022-23 Team Awards

Huskies honored tremendous 2022-23 season at annual Awards Banquet on Friday
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Wrestling has announced their 2022-23 Team Awards, honoring their highly successful campaign at the team's annual Awards Banquet on Friday, April 21. The Huskies took third at the NCAA Tournament in Cedar Rapids after winning the 2023 Super Region V Championship and earning the 2023 NWCA DII National Duals Championship over the course of the season.
Nick Novak was named the Dean Weisman Wrestler of the Year following his undefeated NCAA Championship campaign, earning the national title at 157 pounds in addition to being named the Super Region V and NSIC Wrestler of the Year.
Phillip Kue and Shaeden Scheidt were named the program's Scholar Wrestlers of the Year, while the Gary Boman Most Improved Wrestler honors went to Blake Legred, Dominic Murphy and Jimmy Pierandozzi. Augustus Donovan, Isaac Grams, Robby Horsman, Dominic Murphy, Sebastian Zamorano earned the Iron Man of the Year Award.
Elijah Novak earned the Jim & Dave Hazewinkel Tough Man of the Year Award while Paxton Creese was named the Jim Sundgren Most Courageous Wrestler and Caleb Meekins picked up the Buzz Saw Award.
2012 184-pound NCAA Champion Derek Skala was named to the illustrious Jack Gause Huskies Wrestling Hall of Fame and Joe Andersen ('11) earned the Alumni Achievement Award.
