
SCSU Swim & Dive Opens Season with Dual Meet against Northern Michigan

Huskies will honor 25 seniors during meet on Saturday
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Swim & Dive will open its 2024-25 season this weekend when the Huskies host a dual with Northern Michigan on Oct. 4-5 at the Halenbeck Hall Aquatics Center. The meet is scheduled to start with diving events at 1:45 p.m. CT on Friday with swimming events slated to begin at 5:00 p.m. CT. On Saturday, the meet is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. CT.
Saturday will serve as Senior Day for the program, as the team plans to recognize its 25 seniors for their contributions to the program over the last four seasons. Seniors for the men's team who will be honored include Jacob Andreasen, Dylan Apicello, Will Bennett, Jacob Biard, Connor Coleman, Emile Dost, Antonie Famechon, Lyle Fortune, Bobby Garland, Raf Hendriks, Abdulla Jamal, Joey Kibbon, Charlie Koebele, Max Mattaei and Owen Teague. Seniors for the women's team include Meredith Bangs, Erin Bergman, Kailey Fossell, Kendall Gonzalez, Christen Mayberry, Megan McMorran, Demi Peterson, Ruthie Lucht, Anna Reschko and Karlie Woodall.
The women's team was recently selected to finish third in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Huskies received 49 points in the poll, ranking behind Augustana (62, six first-place votes) and Minnesota State (59, three first-place votes), and ahead of Sioux Falls (42) and Concordia St. Paul (35). Senior Ruthie Lucht (Tempe, Ariz.) and senior Kailey Fossell (Tower, Minn.) were named the NSIC Athletes to Watch ahead of the 2024-25 season.
The men's team is coming off a 19th place finish at the 2024 NCAA Championships where the Huskies earned All-America finishes in four individual events and four relays. Graduate student Raf Hendriks (Berg en Terblift, Netherlands) will return for another collegiate season after six All-America honors a season ago, including individual podium finishes in the 100 and 200 backstroke. Sophomore Jimmy Nord (Chisago City, Minn.) will lead the divers after placing in both the 1- and 3-meter dives at the NCAA meet a season ago.
