Men’s team finishes first in all 15 events in entered, Izzy Koebele collects 1000-yard freestyle win

ST. PAUL, Minn. – St. Cloud State Swim & Dive competed in a dual meet with St. Thomas on Saturday with the men earning a 198-97 victory while the women lost 201.5-97.5. The men earned first-place finishes in 15 of 16 events and in all 15 events it had an entry in, while the women's dual was highlighted by a first-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle from senior Izzy Koebele (Bismarck, N.D.).

NOTABLE FINISHES – MEN

The Huskies men's team put together a dominated performance with first place finishes in all 15 events it had entries in. Four Huskies had first place wins in two individual events with freshman Bernardo Mier y Teran Eljure (Mexico City, Mexico) finishing first in both the 500-yard freestyle (4:37.92) and 1000-yard freestyle (9:41.46), junior Lance Godard (Lee's Summit, Mo.) in the 100-yard butterfly (48.28) and 200-yard butterfly (1:48.91), sophomore Marcus Walker (Santa Clarita, Calif.) in the 100-yard breaststroke (56.65) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:03.36) and junior Reid Tigges (Spencer, Iowa) in the 50-yard freestyle (19.91) and 100-yard freestyle (45.02).

NOTABLE FINISHES – WOMEN

The women's dual was highlighted by Koebele's first place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle at 10:28.01 and her second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:05.60. Her times in the events are the fastest times swam by an NSIC swimmer in the event this season, with her 1000-yard time being 18 seconds faster and her 500-yard time being 13 seconds faster than the second-fastest swimmer.
