Anhorn recorded both game-winning goals in the Huskies sweep over Miami
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fifth-year defenseman Dylan Anhorn (Calgary, Alberta) was named National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) Defenseman of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday. Anhorn recorded both game-winning goals in the Huskies sweep over Miami (Feb. 9-10) this past weekend.
Anhorn is the fifth Husky to earn a weekly honor this season, following himself being named Defenseman of the Week on Oct. 9, senior forward Joe Molenaar (Minnetonka, Minn.) being named Forward of the Week on Nov. 6, sophomore defenseman Cooper Wylie (Stillwater, Minn.) being named Defenseman of the Week on Jan. 9 and senior goaltender Dominic Basse (Alexandria, Va.) being named the Goaltender of the Week on Feb. 5.
Anhorn scored both game-winning goals (2-0-2) while producing a +1 mark on the ice. Anhorn's second-period one-timer gave the Huskies a 3-1 lead and ended up being the game-winner in Friday's 5-2 victory. On Saturday, he found the back of the net at the 10:16 mark of the third period to lift SCSU to a 3-1 win.
The Hobey Baker candidate picked up right where he left off a season ago, as his 26 points rank second among NCHC blue-liners and ninth in the NCAA while his 20 assists rank second in the NCHC and 12th in the NCAA. Anhorn leads the Huskies in points (26), assists (20) and plus/minus (+16).
