No. 15/13 St. Cloud State Men’s Hockey Falls Behind Early, Drops Series Opener to No. 5/4 Denver

Ingram and Gross score in 6-2 setback
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 15/13 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey (15-11-5, 11-6-4 NCHC) let in three goals in the game's first 11 minutes and ultimately fell, 6-2, to No. 5/4 Denver (22-8-3, 12-5-4 NCHC) on Friday night at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn. SCSU managed to score two third period goals, but each time Denver responded with another score to increase its lead.
The Pioneers scored at the 3:33, 6:38 and 10:40 marks of the third period to open a 3-0 lead with Sam Harris scoring two of the goals. DU would tack on another score in the second period to increase its lead to 4-0.
Sophomore forward Adam Ingram (West St. Paul, Manitoba) and freshman forward Tyson Gross (Calgary, Alberta) found the back of the net in the third period, but it was too little too late as the Pioneers added goals of their own to finish the score at 6-2.

- With the loss, SCSU moves to 53-57-7 all-time against Denver and 25-22-4 against the Pioneers in St. Cloud.
- SCSU went 1-of-3 on the power play to increase its conversion rate to 22.4 percent (24-of-107).
- The Huskies have scored a power play in five of the last six games, going 6-of-16 (37.5 percent) over that span.
- Despite the score, SCSU outshot Denver in the game (34-27) and every period (13-12, 10-9, 11-6).
- Ingram notched his ninth goal of the season to record a new career-best for goals in a season. His third period score was his 17th career goal.
- Gross scored a goal and assist for two points, recording his second career two-point game. His score was his first career power play goal and third career goal overall.
- Falk logged the first point of his Husky career with the primary assist on Ingram's score.
- Anhorn recorded his 22nd assist of the season while senior forward Veeti Miettinen (Espoo, Finland) recorded his 13th assist of the season.
