No. 10 St. Cloud State Men’s Hockey Shutout by Minnesota Duluth in Series Opener

Enright makes 32 saves in net while SCSU shutout for the fourth time this season
DULUTH, Minn. – No. 10 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey (11-8-0, 4-5-0 NCHC) dropped its series opener with Minnesota Duluth (7-11-0, 3-6-0 NCHC), falling 2-0 on Friday night at AMSOIL Arena in Duluth. The Huskies got 32 saves from fifth-year goaltender Gavin Enright (Farmington, Minn.), but a second period tap-in goal proved to be the difference in the game before an empty net goal late.
SCSU missed out on its only two power play chances of the game in the first period, but UMD was able to outshoot the Huskies 10-6 in the opening period. The second and third period were much more even in shots on goal favoring UMD 15-14 and 9-8, respectively. UMD's Max Plante scored the first goal of the game at the 16:42 mark of the second period, tipping in an Aaron Pionk shot from the point for the 1-0 lead. UMD then put in an empty net goal late to make the score 2-0.

- Enright made 32 saves in the game, marking the second time this season and eighth time in his career he has made 30+ saves in a game.
- Senior forward Mason Salquist (Grand Forks, N.D.) went 10-6 in the faceoff dot, marking the sixth consecutive game and team-leading 12th time this season he has won 10 faceoffs.
- Gross' 9-4 mark in the dot helped him improve to 58.3 percent (179-128) in the faceoff dot this season.
