
St. Cloud State Wrestling Adds Six Signees for 2026-27 Season

St. Cloud, Minn.- St. Cloud State Wrestling Head Coach Steve Costanzo announced the additions of six student athletes for the 2026-27 season Friday morning.

The additions include Ethan Immel, Jase Jaspers, Joe Kruse, Chase Mills, Carter Nekvapil and Samuel Zanton.

Ethan Immel is a three-time state placer and state champion from Kewaskum High School. This past season, he was the 2025 WIAA D2 State Champion at 138-pounds with a 43-1 record. Also, he placed fourth in 2023 and third in 2024 at the WIAA State Championships. Currently, he is the #21 PFP (pound-for-pound) wrestler in the state of Wisconsin according to Rofkin. He is projected to wrestle at 141/149 pounds for the Huskies.

Jase Jaspers is a three-time IHSAA 2A state finalist out of Mount Vernon High School. He claimed the 2025 IHSAA 2A state championship this past season at 144-pounds with a mark of 47-0. Jaspers is a multi-sport student-athlete excelling in both baseball and football. He is an exceptional student in the classroom with nearly a 4.0 grade point average. Jaspers is projected to compete at 149/157 pounds for the Huskies next season.

Joe Kruse is a 2025 MSHSL 2A state qualifier at 189-pounds for Totino-Grace High School. He finished the 2024-25 season with a mark of 38-8. Kruse cruised through the 2025 MSHSL Section 5AA title after finishing 4-0 on the day, qualifying him for his first state appearance. He is projected to wrestle 197/285 pounds for the Huskies.  Â

Chase Mills is a three-time MSHSL 3A state place winner for St. Michael-Albertville High School. He was the 2024 MSHSL 3A state runner-up at 127-pounds, placed fifth at 113-pounds in 2023 and fifth at 106-pounds in 2022. Mills won the prestigious 2025 Minnesota Matboss Christmas Tournament at 133-pounds. He is projected to wrestle 133/141 pounds for the Huskies next season.  Â

Carter Nekvapil is a two-time UIL Boys State place winner from Allen High School. He won the 2025 UIL 6A State Championship at 165-pounds and placed third at the 2024 UIL 6A State Championships at 152-pounds. He was a Fargo All-American at the 2024 USMC National Championships in Greco Roman as he placed third at 165-pounds. Nekvapil is projected to compete at 174 pounds for the Huskies.

Samuel Zanton is a two-time state placer at the WIAA DI state championships for Middleton High School. He placed fourth at 157-pounds enroute to a 48-2 campaign in 2025 and sixth at 150-pounds in 2024 with a mark of 45-3. In 2024, Zanton placed fifth at the USA Wrestling Nationals Showcase Championships. His grade point average nears a perfect 4.0. He is projected as a 165-pounder for the Huskies.
