Dominic Ducato Named NSIC Wrestler of the Week Following Grand Valley State Duals

Ducato went 3-0 with a pair of ranked wins
Burnsville, Minn. – St. Cloud State Wrestling redshirt sophomore 133-pounder Dominic Ducato was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Wrestler of the Week as announced by the league office Monday afternoon. Ducato helped lead the Huskies to a 3-0 day at the Grand Valley State Duals with three wins of his own including a pair of ranked wins.
In St. Cloud State's 29-12 win over No. 10 Glenville State, Ducato matched up against No. 13 Hunter Ross. No scoring occurred in the first period, but Ross took a 4-0 lead after coming away with an escape and takedown as he started the second period down. Ducato scrapped away and came up with a key two-point reversal as he only trailed 4-2 headed into the final frame. Starting the period on bottom, Ducato scored an escape to bring him within a point. With 38 seconds remaining, the redshirt sophomore came up clutch with a takedown and held his positioning on top to come away with the 6-4 upset victory. In the Huskies 25-13 win against No. 21 Grand Valley State, Ducato came away with his second win of the day as he defeated Jak Keller by score of 5-1. Keller had opened the year ranked No. 12 at 133. In his final match of the day, Ducato faced off against No. 15 Nate Knowlton of RV Findlay. With the score tied 1-1 in overtime, Ducato came up clutch with a late takedown to secure the 4-1 decision. SCSU would go on to beat Findlay 39-7. Ducato is undefeated at 3-0 on the season.
Ducato and the rest of the No. 9 Huskies will be back in action on December 5 for their conference opening dual against Jamestown.
