St. Cloud State Volleyball Ties Highest Final AVCA/TARAFLEX Division II Volleyball Poll Ranking in Program History

Huskies finish season ranked No. 5 for third time in program history (second straight year), post sixth consecutive top 10 final ranking
LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the second consecutive season and third time ever, St. Cloud State Volleyball was ranked No. 5 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA)/TARAFLEX Division II Final Poll, as announced by the organization Monday, tying the highest final mark in program history. The Huskies, who have finished inside the top 10 of the final poll for the last six years, also finished 2022 as the No. 5 ranked team.
SCSU was one of four Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) teams ranked while an additional two teams received votes to be ranked. The Huskies were also one of eight NCAA Central Region Teams ranked in the final top 25 with four more receiving votes. The Huskies played 17 matches against 11 teams who were cited in the final top 25/receiving votes including all six postseason matches.
St. Cloud State was ranked inside the top 16 in every poll this season. The Huskies began the season at No. 3, its highest ever preseason ranking, before spending the next 11 weeks as low as No. 16 and as high as No. 10 before jumping to No. 5 in the poll after the Huskies won their second consecutive and fourth NSIC Tournament Championship in the last five seasons after taking down the then-No. 13, No. 2 and No. 5 teams in the country. The Huskies remained No. 5 after taking down the then-No. 17 and No. 2 teams in the first two rounds of the NCAA Central Region Tournament before falling to the then-No. 6 ranked and eventual national runner-up, Concordia-St. Paul in five sets.
The Huskies have finished each of the last six seasons ranked inside the Top 10 (2019 – No. 10, 2021 – No. 10, 2022 – No. 5, 2023 – No. 9, 2024 – No. 5, 2025 – No. 5) and have finished in the Top-20/25* a total of 12 times (1987 – No. 19, 1988 – No. 13, 1993 – No. 24, 1994 – No. 22, 1995 – No. 10, 1996 – No. 12, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025). *Note – polls conducted from 1986-1991 included Top 20 and polls and 1992-current include Top 25; there were no polls in 2020
Under the direction of Head Coach Chad Braegelmann, the program has been ranked for 82 consecutive weeks (including 50 weeks in the top 10), dating back to the 2019 season. The Huskies have spent a total of 156 weeks in the AVCA top 20/25 Poll in program history, including 75 weeks in the top 10.
This season, the Huskies won their second consecutive and fourth overall NSIC Tournament Championship (all in the last five seasons) after taking down the No. 13, No. 2 and No. 5 teams in the country and advanced to the NCAA Central Region Championship/Sweet 16 for the second consecutive season, tying the program record for NCAA Tournament wins in a season, with two (4x; 1995, 2022, 2024, 2025). En route to the region championship, the Huskies beat the No. 17 team in the nation before taking down the No. 2 team and tournament host, Nebraska Kearney, on their home court.
