
No. 9 St. Cloud State Wrestling Takes Eight Titles at Dragon Open

14 Huskies place top three
Moorhead, MN. – No. 9 St. Cloud State Wrestling competed in the Dragon Open Sunday morning in Moorhead, MN. SCSU claimed eight titles with 14 Huskies finishing top-3, and 19 total Huskies placing.
At 125-pounds, freshman Maximus Riggins opened his day with a pair of tech fall victories before beating Landon Walker of MSU Moorhead 2-0 to advance to the finals. Riggins secured a title with a fall over Owen Lindstrom of Bismark State College in 3:37.
Freshman Ethan Bast opened his with a 4-2 decision after a third period takedown propelled him to the win. Bast followed that up with a major decision over Brody Toledo of MSU Moorhead to advance to the finals. Bast secured his title at 133 with a fall in 4:06 against Gabe Mortensen.
At 141-pounds freshmen Rowdy Neighbor and Peyton Parn each split a share of the title. Neighbor opened with a fall in 32 seconds and then an 18-1 tech fall to advance to the semifinals. Neighbor then beat teammate Cole Bozile 9-4 to reach the championship. Parn started with a pair of falls with one coming in 1:24 and the other in 5:23. Parn then beat teammate Draven John's 8-6 to advance to the finals. The two wrestlers did not wrestle against each other.
Freshman Logan Lagerman came away with a pair of falls in his first two matches (one in 3:54 and the other in 3:52) to reach the championship. Lagerman did not wrestle against Aiden Friedrich to split the title.
At 184, freshman Brenden Heying rolled with three bonus point victories to take the title. Heying reached the championship match with a pair of tech falls before pinning Greg Fuher of Bismark State College in 1:18.
Redshirt sophomore Macray Klohs and freshman Owen Sjoberg were the final Huskies to take a title as the pair split one. Klohs opened his day with a pin in 21 seconds before beating Ty Wiedrich of UMary 10-2 and teammate Nathan Fury 4-1 to reach the title match. Sjoberg came out victorious with a 11-1 win over Wyatt Powell of MSU Moorhead before beating teammate Nathan Klatt 8-6 to advance to the finals. The two wrestlers did not wrestle each other in the finals.
