SCSU to wrestle No. 1 Nebraska-Kearney in home opener
St. Cloud, Minn. – No. 9 St. Cloud State Wrestling (5-0, 2-0 NSIC) welcome the top ranked team in Division II to Halenbeck Hall on Friday, December 12 as they take on the reigning National Champions in Nebraska-Kearney. Friday's dual is set for 7:00 p.m. and will be the home opener for SCSU.

St. Cloud State enters this week ranked ninth in the latest National Wrestling Coaching Association (NWCA). SCSU started the year ranked eighth and currently hold three ranked wrestlers.
The individuals who are ranked for the Huskies are as follows:
157 Pounds- No. 2 Joel Jesuroga (4-0, 2-0 vs NSIC, 0-0 vs ranked), three bonus point wins (one major decision, two tech falls)
174 Pounds- No. 4 Bryce Dagel (2-1, 0-0 vs NSIC, 0-1 vs ranked), two bonus point wins
184 Pounds- No. 3 Cole Glazier (5-0, 2-0 vs NSIC, 0-0 vs ranked), three bonus point wins (one major decision, two falls)

St. Cloud State began their conference duals this past weekend as they wrestled against Jamestown and Minot State.
No. 9 Huskies Capture Clean Sheet in 53-0 Win Over Jamestown- December 5, 2025
St. Cloud State came out on fire with a pin by Ben Aranda at 125. Following Aranda was Dominic Ducato and Jayce Luna who each captured tech falls as the Huskies burst out to a 16-0 lead.
At 149, Jeroen Smith battled back and forth against Ethan Holstein, but Smith sealed his victory with a takedown at the 59 second mark of the third period to win 19-13.
The rest of the Huskies would roll through their matchups as No. 2 Joel Jesuroga followed with a 19-2 tech fall to extend the lead to 24-0. Gabriel Smith, Brody Hart, and No. 3 Cole Glazier produced a fall in each of their bouts as the lead ballooned to 42-0. Tyson Meyer tacked on a 15-0 tech fall at 197 and Jadon Mims closed it out with a forfeit win at 285. St. Cloud State ultimately captured their first conference dual win of the season as they defeated Jamestown 53-0.

No. 9 Huskies Shutout Minot State in 45-0 Win- December 6, 2025
The Huskies got off to a strong start as they burst out to a 14-0 lead through three matches. Jeroen Smith and No. 2 Joel Jesuroga came away with major decisions at 149 and 157 respectively before Derek Johnson won by forfeit at 165.
At 174, Brody Hart used a key escape and riding time to secure a 6-4 decision victory. No. 3 Cole Glazier closed in on a tech fall at 184, but ultimately came away with a fall late in his bout as SCSU extended the lead to 24-0. Tyson Meyer tacked on an 11-6 decision and then Jadon Mims scored a quick fall in 1:25 at 285.
Moving back up to 125, Ben Aranda came away with a 15-8 decision. Dominic Ducato won by fall at 133 and Jayce Luna closed it out by scoring 12 points in the third period to capture a 13-1 major decision. The Huskies have not lost a match in any of the 20 bouts to start conference duals as they came away with a 45-0 shutout win against Minot State.

Friday's dual against Nebraska-Kearney will be the seventh all-time dual between the teams with St. Cloud State holding a perfect 6-0 record against the Lopers. The teams faced off in Kearney, Nebraska last year where the Huskies came away victorious in a tightly contested dual.
No. 1 St. Cloud State Wrestling Captures Second Top-4 Win with 20-19 Victory Against No. 4 Nebraska-Kearney- January 25, 2025
The dual kicked off at 125 where Conor Knopick came up with an 18-5 victory to put the first points on the board with a major decision.
The Lopers would capture two shutout wins in the next two matches as No. 8 Sam Spencer would be defeated 8-0 and then No. 13 Alyeus Craig lost 2-0 to No. 9 Joseph Airola.
Trailing 7-4, No. 13 Colby Njos came up with a pin in 51 seconds as the Huskies would go back on top 10-7.
The newly touted No. 1 wrestler at 157 Joel Jesuroga stayed unbeaten on the year as he came away with a 7-2 decision against Cael Robb.
Moving to 165, No. 3 Nick Novak lost 5-3 to No. 6 Trenton Munoz. The match then came to a tie as No. 2 Bryce Dagel would be defeated 4-1 in sudden victory as the Lopers appeared to have momentum on their side. At 184, No. 9 Bryce FitzPatrick came up with a big 11-2 major decision against No. 8 Jacari Deal to give St. Cloud State a 17-13 lead.
Moving to 197, No. 2 Dominic Murphy faced off against No. 5 Jackson Kinsella. After a defensive oriented three periods, the match headed into sudden victory as the match would be tied 1-1 after both wrestlers earned an escape point. No scoring would occur in overtime as the match would head into a tiebreaker. Choosing to defer to start the tiebreaker, Murphy rode Kinsella for 14 seconds before Kinsella escaped to now lead 2-1. The wrestlers moved out of bounds before resetting at neutral. After starting at neutral, Murphy attacked a single led of Kinsella where he ultimately worked his way towards the clutch takedown. Moving into the second tiebreaker period, Murphy blocked all shot attempts by Kinsella in the period as No. 2 Dominic Murphy defeated No. 5 Jackson Kinsella 5-2.
St. Cloud State now held a 20-13 lead as No. 5 La'Ron Parks took to the mat against No. 1 Crew Howard. Howard would ultimately pin Parks, but it would not matter as No. 1 St. Cloud State stayed undefeated with a 20-19 victory over No. 4 Nebraska-Kearney.

Scouting Nebraska-Kearney
The University of Nebraska-Kearney Lopers come into this dual holding a 2-1 record with wins against Southeast Community College and #25 Chadron State. The lone loss for the Lopers was against Division I Iowa State. UNK is coming off a historic season where they won the Super Region VI Championship while qualifying 10 wrestlers for the NCAA Tournament. Powered by eight All-Americans with three National Runner-Ups, Nebraska-Kearney cruised to a National Championship with 115 points and were 52 points ahead of Augustana who came in second. Coming into this season, Nebraska-Kearney was ranked No. 1 in the NWCA preseason poll.
The Lopers will be returning six of their 10 national qualifiers from last season including Zach Ourada, Joseph Airola, Cael Robb, Trenton Munoz, Jackson Kinsella, and Crew Howard. All but Munoz and Robb were All-Americans last season with Ourada taking second at 125, Airola fourth at 141, Kinsella third at 197, and Howard fourth at 285.
In the latest NWCA Poll, the Lopers are tied with No. 7 Central Oklahoma with the second most ranked wrestlers with seven. Only No. 2 Lander (nine), hold more ranked wrestlers in their lineup.

Head Coach Dalton Jensen enters his 10th season with Nebraska-Kearney in the 2025-26 season. Jensen has totaled a 124-43 record and guided the Lopers to six top-five NCAA Tournament finishes with National Championships last season and in the 2021-2022 season.
