Huskies season ends after falling 2-1
DULUTH, Minn. – No. 11 St. Cloud State Women's Hockey (15-15-6, 10-13-5 Western Collegiate Hockey Association) had its season ended by No. 6 Minnesota Duluth who swept the team's WCHA First Round series on Saturday afternoon at AMSOIL Arena in Duluth. SCSU couldn't overcome a 2-0 deficit and eventually fell, 2-1.
 
The Huskies struck first, getting on the board late in the first period, but had the goal disallowed after UMD 21-13-2, 14-12-2) successfully challenged the play for offsides.
 
The Bulldogs netted two goals in the second period and took a 2-0 lead into the second intermission.
 
Redshirt sophomore forward Laura Zimmermann (Ringgenberg, Switzerland) put the Huskies on the board with just under four and a half minutes remaining, but the Huskies took a penalty with just under three minutes remaining, limiting their extra opportunities to just the last minute and was unable to tie the game and force overtime.

- Sophomore forward Marie Moran (Lakeville, Minn.) earned the primary assist on Zimmermann's goal.
- Senior defender Ella Anick (Hermantown, Minn.) recorded an assist, two blocked shots and four shots on goal.
- Fifth year forward Emma Gentry (Alpena, Mich.) won 13 faceoffs and tied a team-high three blocked shots.
- Junior defender Regan Bulger (Yellowknife, Northwest Territories) tied for the team lead in blocked shots, with three.
- SCSU moves to 15-92-12 all-time against Minnesota Duluth and 5-56-5 against the Bulldogs in Duluth. The Huskies finished the season 0-5-1 against UMD. SCSU also moves to 1-11 against the Bulldogs in postseason play.
- It is the third consecutive season UMD has swept the Huskies out of the WCHA Tournament in the First Round.
- It is the third consecutive season SCSU finished with a .500 record (17-17-2 in 2023-24 and 18-18-1 in 2022-23).
- As a team, SCSU finished with new top 10 season marks in wins (15, 6th), conference wins (10, 8th), points (191, 9th), power play goals (20, t-10th), assists (117, 9th), shots on goal (985, 8th) and plus/minus (-44, 4th).
- The Huskies blocked 12+ shots for the 10th time this season and saved 30+ shots for the 11th time.
- SCSU's three game power play goal streak ended.
- The Huskies led the game in shots (39-32) while UMD led in faceoff wins (28-25) and saves (38-30). Each team blocked 12 shots.

- Zimmermann scored her seventh goal of the season which was tied for third on the team this season. Her goal gave her 15 points for the season and 25 for her career. Her 15 points ranked tied for fourth on the Huskies. Her nine shots on goal were a new single game career high.

- Anick skated in her 135th career game and tallied her fifth assist of the season.
- Gentry won 13+ faceoffs seven times this season, while her three blocked shots were a season high. She finished her career No. 1 in game-winning goals (14), No. 2 in career goals (59), No. 2 in career games played (152), No. 2 in career shots on goal (585) and No. 8 in career points (59-31-90).
- Bulger blocked 3+ shots for the second time this season.
- Fifth year goaltender Sanni Ahola (Helsinki, Finland) finishes her Husky career ranked No. 1 in career wins (35), No. 1 in career shutouts (10), No. 4 in career goals against average (2.62), No. 5 in career saves (2,339), No. 5 in career save percentage (.926), No. 5 in season goals against average (2.23) and tied for 10th in season shutouts (2)
- Senior defender Dayle Ross (Spirit River, Alberta) finished her career tied for No. 9 in career plus/minus (+7) after finishing this season +11. She also finished No. 42 on the career points list (7-33-40).
- Freshman goaltender Emilia Kyrkkö (Nokia, Finland) finished the season No. 1 in career goals against average (1.99), No. 3 in career save percentage (.926), No. 3 in season goals against average (1.99), tied for fifth in season shutouts (three) and tied for sixth in season save percentage (.926).
