Huskies swept in first match of the season for second consecutive year
BURNABY, British Columbia – No. 3 St. Cloud State Volleyball (0-1 overall, 0-0 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) dropped its debut match of the 2025 season against (RV) Simon Fraser (British Columbia) (1-0 overall, 0-0 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) in straight sets Thursday evening at West Gym in Burnaby. The Red Leafs took the match 25-11, 27-25. 25-23.
TOP HUSKIES
"Simon Fraser did a fantastic job putting pressure on us today. They attacked with pace, they had great range – hitting sharp cross court balls, they were able to hit the seams in our blocks, and they were able to serve aggressive at crucial points in the match. Hats off to them for doing a great job tonight."
"On our end, I thought our middles did a really good job point scoring. I thought after the first set we did a much better job at adjusting to the pace of their sets and had some really effective slowdown blocks. We certainly need to defend better and limit our errors...we had way too many midline swings into the meat of their block. We've had matches before where we struggled, and we've rebounded really well – we came out here because we wanted to play some great teams. I believe that a bunch of these teams will be ranked in the top 25 in the country and will be returning NCAA teams this year."
