
Huskies Unable to Stop Marauders Three-Point Barrage in 79-67 Loss

UMary makes 12 threes on 44.4% shooting
Bismarck, N.D. – St. Cloud State Women's Basketball (5-10, 2-8 NSIC) were defeated by the UMary Marauders 79-67 Saturday evening. UMary was +9 in three-point makes and shot 44.4% from deep.
The first quarter was a tight battle as neither team could gather more than a possession lead. With the game tied at 13, UMary strung together a 7-1 run as they looked to take control. Jada Eggebrecht shutdown that momentum as she finished a driving layup with six seconds left in the quarter. The Marauders would hold a 20-16 lead after one. SCSU stayed tight in the second quarter as they cut the deficit down to one at the 5:50 mark of the half. From that point, UMary closed the half on a 14-5 run to lead 37-27 at the break.
Coming out of halftime, each team ramped up their defense as they each scored one field through the first four minutes. The Huskies would chip away much of the third quarter, but right as it appeared they were ready to break through, the Marauders knocked in a buzzer beating three to end the third quarter. SCSU would be down 52-44 headed into the final frame. St. Cloud State found an offensive flow in the fourth as they tallied 23 points on 47% shooting, but the Marauders put up 27 points on 76% shooting. SCSU trailed by 8+ points the entirety of the fourth as they went on to lose 79-67. UMary made 12 threes to the Huskies three for a 27-point margin.
