Second Quarter Surge Sparks Huskies 77-56 Win Over Bemidji State

SCSU outscores Beavers 30-10 in the second
St. Cloud, MN. – St. Cloud State Women's Basketball (6-10, 3-8 NSIC) took down Bemidji State 77-56 Friday evening at Halenbeck Hall. The Huskies used a 30-10 second quarter to ultimately come away with the win.
The first quarter was a defensive battle as both teams shot sub 25% from the field. Bemidji State narrowly held an 11-9 lead after one. Moving into the second quarter, Abigail O'Reilly started the quarter with a bang as she muscled her way for an and-one as SCSU retook the lead after she converted the three-point play. After free throws by Ashley Sawicki, the Huskies forced a turnover which then led to a three-pointer by Jada Eggebrecht. Four free throws by SCSU grew the lead to 12-0 before a backdoor cut by Eggebrecht pushed it to 14 as BSU called a timeout. St. Cloud State continued to pour it on offensively, but the defense shined equally as bright as Bemidji State made their first field goal of the quarter at the 3:45 mark. SCSU ultimately outscored the Beavers 30-10 as they shot 58% to their 33% as they led 39-21 at the break.
Moving into the second half, the Huskies continued to hum offensively with 19 points in each quarter. SCSU comfortably led by 12+ points the rest of the way with their biggest lead being 22 points as they went on to 77-56. St. Cloud State put together a strong performance on both ends as they shot 45% from the field and 50% from three while holding the Beavers to 35% shooting with 19 turnovers.

- Reagan Briggs had a career evening with a career-high 15 points on an efficient 6/8 shooting. Briggs grabbed eight rebounds and nabbed a career-high four steals to go with two assists. She now has seven multi-steal games on the year and 2+ steals in six of her past seven games.
- Jada Eggebrecht scored 13 points on an efficient 5/8 shooting. She also totaled three rebounds and two assists.
- Abigail O'Reilly scored 12 points to go with four rebounds. This was her sixth game scoring 12+ points this season.

- St. Cloud State is now 51-20 all-time against Bemidji State.
- The Huskies led the game in field goal percentage (45.9-35.2), free throws made (17-9), rebounds (37-25), offensive rebounds (9-6), assists (21-12), steals (9-7), points off turnovers (22-15), points in the paint (44-20), second chance points (12-8), and fast break points (6-2).
- Alana Zarneke poured in 11 points to go with two rebounds, three assists, and a steal.
