SCSU beats No. 13 Augustana and No. 19 UMary
Cedar, Falls, IA – No. 13 St. Cloud State Wrestling (11-2, 4-0 NSIC) returned to the mat in Cedar Falls, Iowa to wrap up the NWCA National Duals Championships. The Huskies took down No. 13 Augustana and No. 19 UMary to place fifth in the tournament.
St. Cloud State would open their day against another NSIC foe in No. 13 Augustana.
The Huskies got off to a fast start as they won the first three matches. A second period takedown for Austin Grzywinski propelled him to a 5-4 decision at 125.
At 133, Mason Mills produced a strong ride in the third period to come away with a 4-3 decision against Braiden Kort. Mills rode out Kort for the entirety of the third to secure the riding time point. Rowdy Neighbor extended the lead to 9-0 after a 5-1 victory at 141.
Augustana took the bout at 149 by decision, but No. 2 Joel Jesuorga got those points right back as two takedowns secured a 7-3 win.
Derek Johnson and Brody Hart each tallied major decision victories as the Huskies lead ballooned to 20-3. Johnson won 11-2 with three takedowns while Hart captured a 13-3 win highlighted by two takedowns, three nearfall points and a reversal.
Augustana came away with a decision at 184 to set the score at 20-6. Nathan Fury got in on the bonus point action as he came away with a 12-2 major decision. Donnie Hidden closed out the dual with a bang as he pinned Max Balow in 1:44 to finalize the score at 30-6.

In the fifth place match, SCSU would again face a familiar foe in the UMary Marauders.
Through the first four matches, the two teams split victories with each team earning a decision and major decision. Ethan Bast used a third period takedown to secure a 6-2 decision to put St. Cloud State on the board. Jayce Luna would follow at 141 where a nine-point first period propelled him to a 12-2 major decision.
With the score tied 7-7, No. 2 Joel Jesuorga cruised to a 14-5 major decision where he scored four takedowns. Moving to 165, Gabriel Smith produced a 3-0 shutout with a first period takedown leading the way.
St. Cloud State now led 14-7 before No. 14 Bryce Dagel tacked on six points after pinning Wyatt Elam. Dominic Mann captured a 10-6 decision at 184 as a late takedown sealed his victory.
Tyson Meyer neared a tech fall, but would ultimately walk away with a 17-4 major decision. UMary would forfeit at 285 as the Huskies came away with a 33-7 victory in their final match in Cedar Falls.

- No. 14 Bryce Dagel won his third match by fall and is 8-2 with six bonus point wins.
- Dominic Mann went 1-1 on the day and is 11-4 overall.
- Nathan Fury secured his first major decision on the season and is 8-2 with three bonus point wins.
- Tyson Meyer added his seventh bonus point win to sit at 8-3 with his first major decision.
- Donnie Hidden went 2-0 on the day and is 5-6. This was his second pin and bonus point win.
