No. 13 St. Cloud State Wrestling Takes Three Titles at Worthington Open

Five Huskies place top three
Worthington, MN. – No. 13 St. Cloud State Wrestling competed in the Worthington Open Saturday morning in Worthington, MN. SCSU claimed three titles with five Huskies finishing top-3, and seven total Huskies placing.
At 165, Gabriel Smith reached the championship after winning by tech fall in three of his first four bouts. His lone win that was not a tech fall was a 13-4 major decision against Logan Butzon of Augustana. In the final, Smith faced off against Carson Turnis of Morningside where a first period takedown propelled him to a 4-1 win.
Freshman Nathan Klatt and redshirt sophomore Macray Klohs each split a share of the title at 197. Klatt opened his day by pinning Owen Barton in 1:12. He then produced two tech falls to reach the championship match. Klohs had a bye in the first round before he pinned Sendeska Kalskett in 29 seconds. To reach the finals, Klohs again came away with a quick fall as he pinned Reid Hulshof in 1:44. The two teammates did not wrestle each other in the championship match.
