St. Cloud State Men’s Hockey Falls in Series Finale to No. 9 Denver

Huskies will return home to host Miami Jan. 30-31 at Herb Brooks National Hockey Center
DENVER, Colo. – St. Cloud State Men's Hockey (13-13-0, 6-10-0 NCHC) dropped the series finale to No. 9 Denver (13-12-2, 10-6-0 NCHC), 6-0, on Saturday night at Magness Arena in Denver, Colo. The Huskies finish the season series with the splitting four games, with each team winning two games in regulation.
The shots on goal were even at 5-5 through the first 15 minutes of the game before the Pioneers scored two goals in the final three minutes of the first period to take a 3-0 lead. Denver then extended its lead to 4-0 with two goals in the first six minutes of the second period, forcing SCSU to make a change at goaltender. Denver added two more goals in the third period to cap the scoring at 6-0.

- Redshirt junior goaltender James Gray came on in relief and made 11 saves in net.
- With the loss, SCSU moves to 55-63-7 all-time against Denver and 27-36-3 all-time against the Pioneers in Denver.
- The Huskies move to 4-6-0 on the road, 4-9-0 against ranked teams, 2-11-0 when its opponent scores first, 2-10-0 when trailing after two periods and 1-11-0 when trailing after two periods.
- Gross won 12 draws, marking the 24th time in 26 games he has won 10+ faceoffs in a game.
- Gray came into the game in the second period and stopped 11-of-13 shots on goal.
- Gray saw action for the first time since playing the third period against Western Michigan on March 14, 2025.
