St. Cloud State Women’s Basketball Readies for Home Playoff Game Against Sioux Falls

Huskies eye return to Sanford Pentagon
St. Cloud, MN. – St. Cloud State Women's Basketball (13-14, 10-12 NSIC) are set to host Sioux Falls in the first round of the NSIC Tournament on Wednesday, February 25. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.

Huskies Fall 76-56 to Golden Bears in Regular Season Home Finale- February 18, 2026
Through the first few minutes, the teams were tied 5-5 after a triple by Reagan Briggs. Breaking the paint on a consistent basis, CSP ended the quarter with a 17-4 run to lead 22-9. The start of the second quarter saw a rejuvenated Huskies as they worked their way back into the game within minutes. A three by Rachel Kottke at the 7:26 mark capped off an 11-2 run as SCSU now only trailed by four. The Golden Bears would push their lead back up to double digits in the next two minutes, but St. Cloud State responded with an 8-0 to bring the deficit down to a single possession and force a CSP timeout. The Golden Bears would ultimately go into halftime leading 36-30 after they made a layup with four seconds left in the half.
The second half carried over the back-and-forth battle from the end of the second as a layup by Abigail O'Reilly set the score at 42-41 with the Huskies trailing by one at the five-minute mark. CSP would start to break away as they ended the quarter on a 17-4 run to lead by 13 going into the fourth. The Golden Bears would lead by 9+ points the rest of the way with a lead as big as 21 points. They would ultimately snap the Huskies five-game win streak with a 76-56 win in the regular season home finale for SCSU.

Huskies Drop Regular Season Finale 75-70 to Winona State- February 21, 2026
Halfway through the first quarter, the Huskies found themselves trailing 11-9 following a jumper by Jada Eggebrecht. The Warriors would rattle off a quick 6-0 run with scores on three straight possessions to lead 17-9 as SCSU called a timeout. The Huskies would trail 21-15 at the end of the first after Winona State made a jumper with two seconds left. Moving into the second quarter, WSU built their lead up to double digits four minutes into the quarter. A layup by Abigail O'Reilly got the deficit back under 10. The Warriors looked to play fast and thew an arrant deep pass that would be picked up by Eggebrecht off the inbound. She broke the paint on a drive and found Kristi Kottke in the corner who cashed a three. Another stop by the Huskies was followed by an and-one by O'Reilly brought the deficit down to two as WSU called a timeout. Winona State would ultimately go into halftime leading 40-34 after beating the buzzer with a deep three.

The Warriors got the lead right back with a slot three which sparked a 7-2 run. They would lead 71-67 with 2:04 remaining. After a series of stops by the Huskies, Kottke would knock in a paint jumper with 50 seconds left to cut the deficit to two. WSU called a timeout and then would respond with their own jumper to lead 73-69 with 21 seconds left as SCSU called their own timeout. St. Cloud State would not score out of that timeout as they would ultimately fall 75-70 to Winona State.

After crossing 1,000 career points last season, senior Jada Eggebrecht continues to rise the career scoring leaderboard at St. Cloud State. With 395 points this season, Eggebrecht is up to 1,506 career points which puts her at 12th all-time. The Philips, Wis. native has also cashed 177 career three-pointers which is sixth all-time.

Wednesday's game against Sioux Falls marks the 14th straight season that SCSU has reached the NSIC Tournament. The last time that St. Cloud State did not reach the quarterfinals was the 2017-18 season.
Last season, the Huskies took down Minot State 64-53 at Halenbeck Hall in the first round before falling to Concordia-St. Paul 76-60.

The game against Sioux Falls will be the 21st all-time meeting between the programs with SCSU trailing 9-11 in the series. The two South Division foes matched up twice in the regular season with each team coming away with a win.
Huskies Drop Tight Game to Sioux Falls in 79-76 Loss- December 19, 2025
Through the first five minutes of play, St. Cloud State jumped out to a 15-6 lead following a 7-0 run that was capped off by a triple by Alana Zarneke. SCSU produced a strong first quarter where they led 27-14 and shot 50% from the field and knocked down four threes. Sioux Falls started to string together some stops as they cut the lead down to five points. Just as it seemed that the Cougars would truly cut into the lead, SCSU ripped off a 7-0 run that led to a USF timeout after a steal by Zarneke and fastbreak layup by Jada Eggebrecht. St. Cloud State led 37-24 with 3:29 left in the half, but would ultimately lead 40-33 going into halftime.
The third quarter saw the Huskies slowly build up another double-digit lead as an inside finish by Paige Lambe again put SCSU up 13. A 12-2 run by Sioux Falls with three triples in three minutes led to a St. Cloud State timeout as their lead had been cut down to five points with 3:12 left in the third. The Huskies would enter the fourth quarter leading 63-57 after Kristi Kottke putback a layup as the buzzer sounded to end the third. The teams battled back-and-forth in the final frame before the Huskies compiled a 7-0 run as they appeared to take control. With SCSU leading 74-68 with 3:14 remaining, USF responded with a 9-2 run to as they now led 77-76 with 42 seconds remaining. Possessing the ball out of a timeout, the Huskies missed a layup and while they grabbed the offensive rebound, would turn the ball over with 22 seconds left as Sioux Falls called a timeout. SCSU would need to foul three times to get the Cougars at the free throw line. They eventually did and then split the pair as St. Cloud State had the ball down 78-76 with 11 seconds remaining. With a chance to tie or win the game, the Huskies committed another turnover as they then fouled Sioux Falls with five seconds left. The Cougars left the door open by again splitting their free throws. The Huskies kept the momentum rolling with stifling defense and complementary offense as they ballooned the lead to 11 points following a three by Jada Eggebrecht. SCSU would lead 19-8 after the first quarter as they held Sioux Falls to 40% from the field and a six-minute scoring drought. Eggebrecht stayed hot from three to start the second as she cashed two threes to open the quarter. She would drain her third three of the quarter as the Huskies now led 32-14 at the 6:24 mark of the second quarter. St. Cloud State went into halftime leading 43-26 after Kristi Kottke putback a layup right before the buzzer sounded.

The Sioux Falls Cougars come into this game holding a 13-15 record with a 10-12 mark in conference play. USF finished the season seeded ninth in the NSIC and have won three straight games. Sioux Falls is coming off a 2024-25 season where they went 17-14 with a 12-10 mark in the NSIC. The Cougars took down Minnesota Crookston in the first round of the NSIC tournament before falling to Northern State in the quarterfinals. Sioux Falls were projected to finish tied for second in the NSIC Preseason Poll.
Sioux Falls returns both of their All-Conference Honorees in Kami Wadsworth (First Team) and Ayla Brown (Second Team) as well as NSIC Freshman of the Year in Alexis Rose.
