No. 13 Huskies Roll to 29-11 Win Over RV Northern State for Eighth Straight Win

Aberdeen, SD. – No. 13 St. Cloud State Wrestling (16-2, 9-0 NSIC) captured their eighth straight win Sunday afternoon as they beat RV Northern State 29-11. The Huskies remain unbeaten in the NSIC with a 9-0 record.
The dual started at 285 where Zach Glazier captured a 17-2 tech fall powered by five takedowns. The Wolves would respond almost instantly as they came away with a pin in 13 seconds to take a 6-5 lead.
Moving to 133, Dominic Ducato would respond to the response by adding a second tech fall for the Huskies. Ducato scored 11 nearfall points to go with two takedowns. Jayce Luna extended the lead to 13-3 after a third period takedown and three back points propelled him to a 13-9 decision.
At 149, the Wolves would get back on the board as No. 14 Rudy Lopez produced a tech fall over Alyeus Craig.
Following intermission, No. 2 Joel Jesuroga took to the mat against Griffin Lundeen. Jesuroga would lead 1-0 going into the third following an escape. He would start on top and had a stellar ride with a series of mat returns to lock up riding time. Lundeen would escape with 25 seconds left. Jesuroga would block all shots to stay on his feet to captured the 2-1 decision. Gabriel Smith would follow at 165 where a second period takedown secured a 4-0 shutout win.
With a 19-11 lead, No. 11 Bryce Dagel gave the Huskies their third bonus point win of the day with an 18-4 major decision. Five takedowns, a reversal, and riding time nearly gave Dagel the tech fall.
At 184, No. 2 Cole Glazier faced off against No. 11 Brady Westall in the lone ranked matchup of the dual. Glazier would lead 1-0 going into the third period following a second period escape. Glazier had a strong ride where he consistently broke down Westall's base and prohibited any chance of escaping. He would ride out Westall for the entire period to add a riding time point and generated a second stall call for the 3-0 shutout.
To close out the match, Tyson Meyer battled in a similar match to Jesuroga and Glazier. He would also lead 1-0 going into the final period off an escape in the second. Meyer rode out Ryan Hirschkorn for nearly the entire period. Hirschkorn would escape with 15 seconds remaining, but Meyer had strong defense in the final seconds to ultimately win 2-1 off riding time. St. Cloud State would go on to win 29-11 for their eighth consecutive win.
