Hofeld and Haviland find the back of the net for the Huskies

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (1-1-2, 0-0-1 NSIC) opened conference play with a 2-2 draw against UMary (1-1-2, 0-0-1 NSIC) on Friday evening at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud. The Huskies held a 2-0 lead for a majority of the second half before the Marauders were able to score two goals in the game's final 10 minutes to escape with a draw.

TURNING POINT

SCSU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 12^th minute on junior forward Gabby Hofeld's (St. Paul, Minn.) first goal of the season and then doubled their lead in the 48^th minute with sophomore midfielder Laney Haviland's (West Des Moines, Iowa) third goal of the season.

The Huskies had control for most of the second half until UMary's Dina Polanco was able to find the back of the net in the 86^th minute. Then, just funder four minutes later with 34 seconds on the clock, Polanco was taken down in the box and awarded a penalty kick. Polanco took the kick and was successful, knotting the game at 2-2.

TOP HUSKIES

Haviland scored her team-leading third goal of the season.
Hofeld found the back of the net for the first time this season.
Junior midfielder Darby Allen (Minnetonka, Minn.) and junior forward Emma Gott (Ankeny, Iowa) each had assist on the Huskies' goals.

NOTES

With the draw, SCSU is now 12-8-3 all-time against UMary.
Haviland found the back of the net for the third time this season and now takes the team lead in goals (three) and points (six).
Hofeld netted her first goal of the season and fifth of her career.
Gott recorded her first career point with her assist on Hofeld's goal.
Allen recorded her second assist and set a new career-high for assists in a season with her helper on Haviland's goal.
