Before SCSU: Originally from Medicine Hat, Alberta, Burghardt played for Mike Houston and Steven MacDonald at Balmoral Hall during her prep tenure. During her junior stint in 2008-09, Burghardt helped lead Balmoral Hall to a Junior Women’s Hockey League Championship Finals.
Personal: The multi-sport athlete also shined in soccer. Burghardt was the leading scorer for the Alberta South Division during the Alberta Winter Games and the Team Alberta Challenge. She also helped lead her soccer squad to the 2009 Winnipeg City Championship. An honor roll student, Sydney is the daughter of Aaron and Shelley Burghardt. She is majoring in communication disorders with a minor in psychology at St. Cloud State.
