Graduate netminder named to team for second time, set to compete for Team USA in Collegiate Series at the Lake Placid Olympic Center from August 13-16
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – St. Cloud State Women's Hockey graduate student goaltender Jojo Chobak (Chicago, Ill.) has been named to the 2025 U.S. Collegiate Select Team, as announced by the organization on Sunday, following a standout performance at the USA Hockey Women's National Festival at the Lake Placid Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. from August 3-9. She is one of three netminders on the roster and this marks the second time she will don the stars and stripes as part of the collegiate select team.
Chobak and Team USA will compete against Canada in the 2025 Collegiate Series later this week, August 13-16, at the Lake Placid Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. The three-game series opens on Wednesday and Thursday with 4:30 p.m. CT and 1:30 puck drops respectively and wraps up on Saturday with a 4:30 p.m. CT start.
The graduate student goaltender is the third active SCSU player and first netminder to be named to the Collegiate Select Team (*formerly known as the U22 Team) twice in her career. Chobak and former co-captain Emma Gentry became the fourth and fifth Huskies to make the team back in 2023 before Gentry was a back-to-back pick in 2024. Prior to that, goaltender Emma Polusny was the last Husky to make the team in 2019 and before that, defender Brittni Kuyper made back-to-back U22 squads in 2006 and 2007 while forward Holly Roberts joined Kuyper at the 2007 U22 Series.
In the 2023 Collegiate Series, Chobak earned a win in her lone appearance, playing the last two periods of the final game. She made 15 saves and allowed two goals. The United States swept the three-game set, winning 4-1, 4-3 and 4-3.
Chobak is coming off a redshirt season in 2024-25. In 2023-24, she went 7-11-1 over 17 starts and established new program records for single season save percentage (.939) and goals against average (1.64). She also recorded four shutouts. In 2022-23, Chobak also enjoyed a phenomenal debut season with St. Cloud State, going 9-7-1 across 17 starts, posting a .923 save percentage alongside a 2.46 goals against average. In that season, she broke the Huskies single-season shutout record with five clean sheets throughout the season.
Team USA won the 2024 series with a 1-1-0-1 record, winning game three by a 7-1 margin and holds a 25-5-4-18-2 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) all-time record in the event history.
*The U.S. Collegiate Women' Select Team is normally referenced as the U.S. Under-22 Women's Select Team, but due to extended collegiate eligibility, all players with collegiate eligibility were able to make the team.
