Huskies drop first ever game at Anderson Arena
ST. PAUL, Minn – (RV) St. Cloud State Women's Hockey (8-17-2, 4-15-2 Western Collegiate Hockey Association) fell to (RV) St. Thomas, 3-2 in overtime in the Huskies first ever game at Anderson Arena in St. Paul on Friday afternoon.
The Tommies (11-16-0, 6-15-0 WCHA) got on the board first after scoring a goal with just 53 seconds left in the first period.
Freshman forward Maria Mikaelyan (Moscow, Russia) brought the Huskies even, netting a goal 16 seconds into the Huskies first power play opportunity of the day. Junior forward Payton Holloway (Tomah, Wis.) found Mikaelyan who hit a one-timer from between the circles, past the UST netminder.
SCSU took its first lead of the day with 5:34 left in the second, when junior forward Sidney Jackel (Ann Arbor, Mich.) delivered a centering pass to freshman forward Raili Mustonen (Kalajoki, Finland), who skated in behind the UST defenders and scored from the doorstep.
With 1:59 left, the Tommies emptied their net and 32 seconds they scored the game-tying goal which eventually sent the game into overtime.
After possessing the puck for the first minute of 3-on-3 hockey, the Huskies were called for a minor penalty 1:13 into the overtime and eventually conceded the game-winning goal with 23 seconds left on the penalty kill and 2:50 into the extra frame.

- Graduate goaltender Jojo Chobak (Chicago, Ill.) saved 32 of the 35 shots (.914 save percentage) she faced, allowing just one even strength goal.
- Holloway, Jackel and redshirt junior defender Regan Bulger (Yellowknife, Northwest Territories) each provided assists on the two goals.
- SCSU moved to 12-6-2 all-time against St. Thomas and 5-4-1 in the 10 games against the Tommies. The Huskies moved to 4-4-1 all time against the UST in on the road, 0-1-0 all time at Anderson arena and 1-2-0 against St. Thomas this season, with all three games being decided in overtime.
- SCSU moved to 4-8-1 in road games this season, 5-16-2 in games against teams ranked/receiving votes in either the U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) Poll or the USA Hockey Poll and 2-4-2 in overtime games.
- The Huskies went 1-for-2 on the penalty kill and 1-for-2 on the power play. For the season, SCSU is 65-for-86 (75.6%) on the penalty kill and 12-for-76 on the power play (15.8%).
- The Tommies led the game in shots on goal (35-21) and blocks (11-10) and won 64.6% of the faceoffs.
- SCSU blocked 10+ shots for the 16th time this season and seventh consecutive game.
- Mikaelyan's goal was her 10th of the season, becoming the second Husky to reach double-digit goals so far this season. It was also her fourth power play tally of the season, which leads the team. Her 16 points this season rank fourth among SCSU skaters.
- Mustonen's goal was the third of her career.
- Chobak posted 32+ saves for the eighth time this season and fourth consecutive game.
- Holloway's assist was her ninth of the season which ranks fourth on the team. It was her 15th career point and her 90th career game.
- Jackel's assist was her seventh of the season, which is tied for the sixth most on the team. It was her 90th career game.
- Bulger's assist was her first point of the season.
- Graduate defender Grace Wolfe (Owatonna, Minn.) skated in her 144th game in a Husky sweater, moving into a four-way tie for the 10th most games played in program history.
