(RV) St. Cloud State Women’s Hockey Drops Series Opener at No. 1 Wisconsin

Huskies fall in penultimate regular season game
MADISON, Wis. – (RV) St. Cloud State Women's Hockey (11-20-2, 7-18-2 Western Collegiate Hockey Association) fell in its series opener and penultimate regular season game, 9-2, to No. 1 Wisconsin at LaBahn Arena in Madison on Friday afternoon.
The Badgers (28-3-2, 22-3-2 WCHA) took a 1-0 lead 3:41 in the first period, but SCSU responded with a goal of its own just over four minutes later. Redshirt sophomore forward Marie Moran (Lakeville, Minn.) found freshman forward Raili Mustonen (Kalajoki, Finland) who had her one-timer and a shot off the rebound saved and the puck slid to freshman defender Sydney Lamb (Lombard, Ill.) whose slapshot from the top of the right circle made it through traffic into the back of the net.
Wisconsin retook the lead, scoring a power play goal with 0.8 seconds left in the first period. The Badgers added four goals in the second, including another goal with just 0.8 seconds remaining to take a 6-1 lead into the third period.
UW scored its sixth straight and seventh overall goal 20 seconds into the third period before the Huskies scored their second of the game, a power play tally from graduate defender Grace Wolfe (Owatonna, Minn.) four minutes later. Junior forward Alice Sauriol (Sherbrooke, Quebec) sent a pass from behind the goal line to a streaking Wolfe who beat the Wisconsin netminder.
The Badgers added two more goals to bring the game to its final score of 9-2.

- Mustonen provided an assist and was the lone Husky to skate to a positive mark (+1).
- SCSU moved to 9-101-5 all-time against the Badgers, 0-3-2 in the last five games and 0-8-2 in the 10 games against UW. The Huskies moved to 4-53-1 all time against Wisconsin in Madison and moved to 0-2-1 against the Badgers this season.
- The Huskies moved to 4-10-1 in road games this season and 6-19-2 in games against teams ranked/receiving votes in either the U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) Poll or the USA Hockey Poll.
- SCSU went 0-for-1 on the penalty kill and 1-for-1 on the power play. For the season, SCSU is 73-for-97 (75.3%) on the penalty kill and 15-for-86 on the power play (17.4%).
- The Badgers led the game in shots (58-17) and won 69.6% of the faceoffs. The Huskies led the game in blocked shots (7-5).
- SCSU conceded a season-high nine goals, which is the most since Minnesota scored nine on the Huskies (9-0) on Dec. 9, 2022.
- Lamb scored her fifth goal of the season.
- Wolfe's goal was her fifth of the season and second on the power play. It was her second straight game with a power play goal. Her goal was her 19th point of the season which is a new single season best. It was her 150th career game which gives her sole possession of third place for the most career games played in program history.
- Moran's assist was her 10th career point.
- Sauriol's assist was her 19th if the season, extending her team lead in the category to five and her 27th point which is the most on the team by two. Her 19 assists are a top 10 program mark for assists in a season and are the most in a season since a trio of Huskies had more in 2009-10 - Meaghan Pezon (26), Caitlin Hogan (27) and Holly Roberts (28). Her 27 points are the most in a season since Jenniina Nylund had 28 in 2022-23. It was her 105th career game.
- Junior forward Sofianna Sundelin (Ulvila, Finland) provided her 10th assist/25th point of the season.
- Graduate goaltender Jojo Chobak (Chicago, Ill.) started her 20th game of the season. It was also her 80th career game and 70th career start. She made 37+ saves for the fifth time this season.
- Sophomore defender Siiri Yrjölä (Vantaa, Finland) returned to the lineup for the first time in six games after being away with Team Finland at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Milano Cortina.
- Sophomore goaltender Emilia Kyrkkö (Nokia, Finland) returned to the lineup for the first time in eight games after being away with Team Finland at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Milano Cortina. She played the final period.
