A NEW WCHA SEASON
The St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (2-2-0, 0-0-0 WCHA) will open its 2012-13 WCHA season on Oct. 26-27 with a pair of games against Minnesota State University (2-0-2, 0-0-0 WCHA). The games will be played at the National Hockey and Event Center (200x100/5,371 cap.) in St. Cloud, Minn. Game time on Oct. 26 is slated for 7:37 p.m. and the Oct. 27 game will start at 7:07 p.m.
LISTEN LIVE: Fans can listen to the games live on KNSI FM 103.3 or AM 1450. Don Lyons, the voice of Husky Hockey, and Dave Reichel will be making the call live from the NHEC this weekend. You can also listen online at www.knsiradio.com
WATCH LIVE: The SCSU-UAH games on Oct. 19-20 will be televised live on Charter Cable channel 87 in the St. Cloud area. The Husky Production telecasts will also be replayed on Mondays and Tuesdays at 7 p.m. after each home series on UTVS (Charter Cable channel 21 in the St. Cloud area). Twin Cities sports media personality Jim Rich and former NHL and Husky standout Mark Parrish will call the games this season for Husky Productions.

Huskies by the Numbers
102 Senior Drew LeBlanc became the 23rd player (DI level only) to join the Huskies' 100-point club on Oct. 19, 2012 vs. UAH. LeBlanc had two assists in the game and then finished the weekend with a goal and an assist on Oct. 20 vs. UAH. He now has 30 goals and 72 assists for the Huskies, which places his career total at 102 and counting. He is the first SCSU to hit 100 points since Garrett Roe in 2009-10.
1 Several SCSU players scored their first goals of the 2012-13 season in play against UAH on Oct. 19-20. This group included rookies Jonny Brodzinski (Oct. 19), Ethan Prow (2 on Oct. 19) and Kalle Kossila (Oct. 20). Veterans adding their first goals of the new campaign last weekened included Nic Dowd (Oct. 19 & 20), Brooks Bertsch (Oct. 19), Cory Thorson (Oct. 19) and Drew LeBlanc (Oct. 20).

LAST WEEK: SCSU earned its first series sweep of the 2012-13 season with an impressive 8-3, 4-0 weekend against Alabama Huntsville at the NHEC on Oct. 19-20...this marked the first time since time since Mar. 9-10, 2012 (4-0, 3-1 vs. UNO in the WCHA playoffs) that the Huskies earned two consecutive wins at the NHEC and also marked the first regular season sweep at home since a 4-2, 7-3 sweep of Wisconsin on Feb. 25-26, 2011.
TWO FOR NIC: It was only fitting that Huntsville, Alabama native Nic Dowd score the first goal in both games against Alabama Huntsville for the Huskies. Dowd leads the Huskies this season with 2 goals and 4 assists in four games played.
LOCAL GUY: Hometown hero - rookie defender Ethan Prow grew up in nearby Sauk Rapids, Minn. and was an avid Husky hockey fan. Prow got a chance to step into the spotlight in his first home game for the Huskies as he charted his first two career goals and an assist on Oct. 19 in SCSU's 8-3 win over Alabama Huntsville. Prow starred at Sauk Rapids-Rice H.S. before going on to play junior hockey in the USHL at Des Moines. Prow's older sister Katelyn competed on the nordic ski team at SCSU during her collegiate career.
INTERNATIONAL INPUT: Freshman forward Kalle Kossila, a resident of Finland, played his first collegiate games this weekend against UAH. Kossila replied by scoring an assist on Oct. 19 and a goal and an assist on Oct. 20. Kossila also charted an impressive +5 on the plus/minus ranking over the weekend. The other SCSU player from Finland this season is goalie Rasmus Reijola.
BACK AT SCSU: Husky Productions will welcome former Husky and NHL veteran Mark Parrish to the broadcast booth this weekend vs. Minnesota State. Parrish will join the Huskies' TV play-by-play announcer Jim Rich for the remainder of the season as a color analyst for all home games at the NHEC. Parrish played college hockey at SCSU from 1995-97 and charted 42g/30a in two seasons of play. He went on to play in the NHL from 1998 to 2011 and scored 221 goals and 175 assists during his sterling pro career. SCSU hockey telecasts are aired on Charter Cable Channel 87 in the St. Cloud area.
HUSKY TIDBITS: Senior captain Ben Hanowski leads the team this season with 18 shots on goal. He charted two assists over the weekend against UAH and now has 46 goals and 39 assists during his tenure at SCSU...Freshman David Morley, who was a redshirt at SCSU in 2011-12, continues to impress in 2012-13 with four assists already scored in four games this season. He is a resident of Richmond Hills, Ont... In the two games against Alabama Huntsville, the Huskies outshot the Chargers 80-37. SCSU is now 9-0-0 in the all-time series against UAH... Freshman Jonny Brodzinski scored his first collegiate points this past weekend. On Oct. 19, Brodzinski scored a goal and an assist against UAH. He completed the weekend with an assist on Oct. 20. Brodzinski is the son of former Husky All-American Mike Brodzinski, who played at SCSU from 1984-87.
FIRST WIN: Redshirt freshman goalie Joseph Phillippi gained his first start on Oct. 19. He notched 16 saves in the Huskies' 8-3 win over UAH at the NHEC. Phillippi backstopped Hill-Murray to a MSHSL title in 2008 and helped Fairbanks win the NAHL Robertson Cup 2011. Phillippi is a resident of Shoreview, Minn.
BLANKED: SCSU sophomore netminder Ryan Faragher missed the start on Oct. 19 vs. Alabama Huntsville but he got back on ice on Oct. 20 with a 4-0 win over UAH. Faragher made 18 saves in the game, which was his second career shutout at SCSU and his first in front of the fans at the NHEC. This was SCSU's first shutout at the NHEC since Mike Lee blanked UNO in the WCHA playoffs last year.
