Huskies Open Season with 67-48 Win at St. John's

Collegeville, Minn. – St. Cloud State University senior forward Theo Rothstein (St. Michael) scored a game high 16 points to lead the Huskies to a 67-48 season opening win over St. John's University.
The game was the first of the season for both teams. SCSU is 1-0 and St. John's 0-1.
Rothstein was five of eight from the field. Senior guard Shaun Jensen (Spring Lake Park) and junior transfer Chris Larson (Hudson, Iowa) also scored in double figures for the Huskies. Jensen finished the game with 13 points and six assists. Larson added ten points.
Sophomore forward Connor Niehaus (Fremont, Neb.) led the Huskies with seven rebounds.
St. Cloud State shot 39 percent from the field and 30 percent from three point range. The Huskies forced the Johnnies into 19 turnovers.
St. John's was led by Chris Neumann with ten points. The Johnnies out rebounded the Huskies 47-37 and shot 30 percent from the field.
St. Cloud State travels to Lakeland, Florida for a pair of non-conference games on Nov. 23 and 24. The Huskies will play Florida Southern and Saint Joseph's College.
