#3 Denver Snaps #18 SCSU Win Streak on Nov. 3

Denver, Colo. - The #18 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (5-3-0, 3-1-0 WCHA) saw its five-game win streak snapped on Nov. 3 with a 6-1 loss at #3 University of Denver (5-1-0, 3-1-0 WCHA) in Denver, Colo.
The Pioneers opened the night's scoring at 3:48 of the first period with a goal by Chris Knowlton before SCSU junior forward Cory Thorson tied the contest with his fourth goal of the year at 5:01 of the first period. Assists on Thorson's goal were added by sophomore forward Nick Oliver and freshman defender Ethan Prow, who now has four assists to his credit this winter.
Just 12 seconds later, DU's Nick Shore scored at 5:13 to give the Pioneers a 2-1 lead in the first. In the second period, DU's David Makowski scored a power play goal at 1:03 to make it 3-1 and then Knowlton added his second goal of the evening at 13:22 of the second.
In the third period, Denver wrapped up the game with a goal at 6:51 by Matt Tabrum and then Knowlton charted the hat trick with his goal at 11:37 of the third to make the final tally 6-1.
In the game, DU outshot the Huskies 33-21. On the power play, DU was 1-of-7 and the Huskies were 0-of-4. In the nets, SCSU's Ryan Faragher started the game and played for 21:03 minutes before being relived by freshman Rasmus Reijola. Faragher was the goalie of record in the game with 11 saves, while Reijola ended the night with 16 saves. Juho Olkinuora gained the win for DU with 20 saves on the night.
