Kevin Levandoski Steals the Show in 92-64 Win

St. Cloud, Minn. – St. Cloud State University sophomore guard Kevin Levandoski (Appleton, Wis.) set a single game record with nine steals in a 92-64 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) win over the University of Mary Friday night in Halenbeck Hall.
The 19th ranked Huskies improved to 9-1 overall and 5-1 in the NSIC. UMary dropped to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in the NSIC. St. Cloud State hosts Minot State at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Levandoski collected eight steals in the second half. The old record of seven was was set in 2011 by Taylor Witt. Levandoski finished the game with 14 points and three assists.
Five Huskies scored in double figures led by senior forward Theo Rothstein (St. Michael) with a game high 21 points. Senior guard Shaun Jensen (Spring Lake Park) chipped in 14 points and dished out four assists. Junior transfer Chris Larson (Hudson, Iowa) had career highs in points with 13 and blocked shots with five. First year guard Jordan Poydras (DePere, Wis.) knocked down 11 points including three three-point baskets. Junior center Tim Bergstraser (St. Cloud) led all players with six rebounds.
St. Cloud State shot 55.2 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from three-point range. The Huskies forced UMary into 24 turnovers and committed a season low three turnovers. In all the Huskies came away with 18 steals.
UMary was led in scoring by Alex Door, Brandon Tyler and Blake Maslonkowski, all with 11 points. The Marauders out rebounded the Huskies 31-23 and shot 49 percent from the field.
The Maruaders had a pair of three-point leads seven minutes into the first half. A three-point basket by the Huskies Poydras put SCSU ahead 17-15 at the 11:30 mark and SCSU never lost the lead.
UMary did close to within four, 52-48 six minutes into the second half but the Huskies went on a 20-2 run that stretched the lead to 72-50 with under nine minutes to play.
