SCSU Volleyball Splits at First Day of NSIC Challenge

Sioux Falls, S.D. -- The St. Cloud State University volleyball team competed in the NSIC Challenge today in Sioux Falls. The Huskies defeated Missouri Western State University 3-1 with final scores of 25-22, 25-19, 15-25 and 25-19. The Huskies then took on Northwest Missouri State University and fell in three straight sets with scores 21-25, 21-25 and 18-25.
The Huskies move to 4-2 overall and will continue competition at the NSIC Challenge tomorrow as they take on the South Dakota School of Mines at 11:30 a.m. at the USF Stewart Center followed by Drury University at 4:30 p.m. at the Augustana Elmen Center. Missouri Western State Recap:
Dani Domeier (Norwood Young America) led the Huskies with 13 kills against Missouri Western.
Erin Ohlemann (Golden Valley) had four kills in just seven attempts and posted 21 assists.
Brianne Stamer (Hutchinson) had a team-high 18 digs.
Northwest Missouri State Recap:
Kellan Flynn (Tomahawk, Wis.) had a team high eight kills against Northwest Missouri State. Ellie Dietzen (Black Creek, Wis.) posted seven kills and hit a .429 attack percentage.
Erin Ohlemann finished with 25 assists.
Coach Blaeser recapped the match stating, "We served tough throughout the match but failed to execute on our serve receive. Northwest Missouri is a solid team, they have some good players. We just need to regroup and do what we know how to do: stay aggressive and execute."
