Swimming and Diving Defeats St. John's/St. Ben's in Friday Dual

St. Cloud, Minn. -- The St. Cloud State University men and women's swimming and diving teams hosted the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University in a team dual this evening in Halenbeck Hall Pool. The Huskies came out on top as the St. Cloud State women defeated the St. Ben's Blazers 173 to 118 and the St. Cloud State men took down the Johnnies, 173 to 109.Â

Both the St. Cloud State men and women each posted 11 first place finishes.Â

Diving Highlights
Â
In diving action, Mary Woodson (Hartland, Wis.) took first place on both the one-meter and three-meter boards. Woodson finished with a score of 259.95 on the one-meter and 254.55 on the three-meter. Tori Raihle (Spring Lake Park) came in second in both events. Raihle scored 246.20 on the one-meter and 246.25 on the three.

Tyler Magalis (Farmington) took the one-meter men's title with a final score of 293.30. Coming in second on the one-meter was Joseph McGrath (Little Canada) with a score of 255.55.

Aaron Rooney (Alexandria) grabbed the three-meter title with a score of 304.90. David Sufficool (Fargo, N.D.) came in second scoring 293.10.

The 200-medley relay team made up of Erin Hart, Abby Rasmussen, Meghan Carmichael and Kelsey Leeson finished in first place with a time of 1:48.34.

Abby Rasmussen grabbed her second first place finish as she won the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 30.46.

Meghan Carmichael found her second first place finish of the night upon winning the 100-yard butterfly in 58.96.

The men's 200-yard medley relay made up of Bob Simson, Napoleon Howell, Joe Burns and Jake Stoll finished in first place with a time of 1:35.01.

Napoleon Howell grabbed a second first place finish as he won the 50-yard breaststroke in 25.71. Howell also won the 100 yard breaststroke in 57.94.

Bob Simson had multiple victories as he also won the 500 yard freestyle in 4:58.40.

The men's 200 yard freestyle relay made up of Napoleon Howell, Jordan Kinney, Matt Graham and Chris Tung finished in first with a time of 1:27.87.

Saturday (Jan. 18) action vs. SDSU
The Huskies will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 18 as they host South Dakota State University in a 2 p.m. match-up. Saturday will mark both Parent's Night and Senior Night for St. Cloud State swimming and diving.
