RANK AND FILE:  The Huskies earned a number five ranking in both of the Division I men's college hockey polls this week. In the Pairwise Rankings on Jan. 22, the Huskies were ranked eighth, while Minnesota was ranked first. Minnesota State Mankato was ranked 17th in the PWR and Minnesota Duluth was ranked 25th in the PWR. In the RPI rankings, the Huskies were also ranked eighth on Jan. 22.
AT THE X:  The Huskies own a 6-11-0 record in games played at the Xcel Energy Center since it opened in 2001. SCSU is 2-2-0 in games played against Minnesota at the X. Â
BRONCO RESULTS: St. Cloud State charted a 5-5 tie and a 2-1 loss against NCHC rival Western Michigan on Jan. 17-18 at the Brooks Center. Sophomore Jimmy Murray led the Huskies with two goals and sophomore David Morley had two assists on Jan. 17. The lone goal posted by the Huskies on Jan. 18 was credited to Kalle Kossila, who completed his weekend against WMU with two goals.POINT STREAK: Sophomore Jonny Brodzinksi brings a five-game point streak into the Huskies' showdown against Minnesota on Jan. 24. Brodzinski had assists in both games against WMU on Jan. 17-18. He currently paces the Huskies with 11 goals and 21 points. In the NCHC, Brodzinski ranks second (NCHC games only) with seven goals and fourth in the league with 12 points this season.
FAMILY AFFAIR:  Brodzinski will enjoy a family reunion on Jan. 24 during the Huskies' game against Minnesota. Brodzinski's younger brother Michael Brodzinski is a member of the University of Minnesota hockey team. The pair of Brodzinski brothers are the sons of Mike Brodzinski, who was a two-time All-America for the Huskies in 1986 and 1987.  The Brodzinski's attended Blaine H.S.
WELCOME TO THE CLUB: SCSU senior Nic Dowd became the 25th player in the Division I history of the Huskies' hockey program to score 100 career points on Jan. 17. Dowd's 100th point came on a power play goal at 7:37 of the third period against WMU. The goal pushed Dowd's career totals to 41 goals and 59 assists in 137 games played for the Huskies. The goal was also Dowd's 11th of the season, which ranks first on the team this season. Dowd also has eight assists this season for a total of 19 points... Dowd ranks second in the nation with four game winning goals this season. He also ranks ninth in the nation and first among NCHC players with six power play goals this season. Dowd is a nominee for the 2014 Hockey Humanitarian Award.
FARAGHER FACTS:  At 11-3-3 on the season, SCSU goalie Ryan Faragher ranks ninth in the nation with a .735 winning rate. Faragher brings a .912 save rate and a 2.28 goals against average into the North Star College Cup.  Faragher is 0-1 in games played at the Xcel Energy Center during his college career, which includes a 4-1 loss to Wisconsin at the WCHA Final Five in 2013.
50 AND COUNTING:  Kalle Kossila hit the 50-point plateau in his college career with his goal against Western Michigan on Jan. 18 at the Brooks Center. In two years at SCSU, Kossila now has 22 goals and 28 assists in 60 games played for the Huskies. In 2013-14, Kossila has seven goals and 10 assists.
