Columbus, Ohio - The St. Cloud State University women's hockey team lost its first WCHA contest of the 2014-15 season with a tough 3-0 loss at the Ohio State University (5-3-0, 3-3-0 WCHA) on Saturday, Nov. 1 in Columbus, Ohio. The defeat moves SCSU's WCHA record to 2-1-1 this season, while the Huskies are 3-4-1 overall.
After a scoreless first period of play, OSU posted the game winner with a goal by Lauren Spring at 10:31 of the second period. The Buckeyes added two more goals in the third period by Sara Schmitt to earn the 3-0 shutout. Schmitt's second goal was an empty netter late in the period.
In the nets, Katie Fitzgerald had 25 saves for the Huskies and only allowed two goals in the contest. Kassidy Sauve earned the shutout for OSU with 18 saves in the game.
The Huskies will continue their 2014-15 season with a pair of road games at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. on Nov. 7-8.
