#16 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey on the road to Bemidji

The #16 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (5-6-1, 2-3-1-0 NCHC) will continue its 2014-15 season with a pair of non-conference dates at Bemidji State University on Nov. 28-29. Both games will be played at the Sanford Center in Bemidji, Minn. The game on Nov. 28 is scheduled to start at 7:37 p.m. and the game on Nov. 29 will start at 7:07 p.m. at the Sanford Center (4,700 cap./200x85). Fans can listen to the games live on KCML FM 99.9 (www.lite999.com) out of St. Cloud. The games will also be televised live on Lakeland Public Television (check your local listings for the channel near you).
NCHC CHAMPIONS: St. Cloud State University captured the inaugural regular season championship of the NCHC in 2013-14. The Huskies finished the year with a first place mark of 15-6-3-0 in the always rugged NCHC. SCSU posted 48 league points to win the Penrose Trophy, while North Dakota trailed in second place with 45 points. This marked the second consecutive season that SCSU has won a regular season conference title. In 2013, the Huskies won the WCHA regular season championshp. Â
ON THE AIR: KCML Lite 99.9 FM will broadcast all home and away SCSU men's hockey games during the 2014-15 season. Fans can tune into KCML on the web at www.lite999.com. Dan Terhaar, the Voice of the Huskies, and Dave Reichel will provide the call for KCML in 2014-15.

TOP FIVE PLAY: The 3-on-0 save by SCSU goalie Charlie Lindgren was named the NCAA's #2 play of the week. The NCAA.com website releases its top five plays of the week and Lindgren's big save earned the number two spot this week. Check it out at NCAA.com
SCSU UPDATE: St. Cloud State University moved its season record to 5-6-1, 2-3-1 NCHC after a weekend split against #2 North Dakota on Nov. 21-22 at home. Out of SCSU's first 12 games of the 2014-15 season, the Huskies have played eight games against teams currently ranked among the nation's top 10 teams and they have played 10 of its first 12 games against teams currently ranked among the nation's top 20 teams. In the most recent Division I national polls released on Nov. 24, SCSU gained a #16 ranking in the USCHO.com poll and the Huskies received votes in the USA Hockey/USA Today poll.
POWERHOUSE POWER PLAY: SCSU moved to number five in the nation on the power play after this weekend's games. The Huskies currently own a 25.5 percent rate on the advantage (13-of-51) during the 2014-15 season. On Nov. 21, the Huskies added power play markers in the team's 3-1 win vs. #2 North Dakota from Ethan Prow and Jonny Brodzinski. The team is led this season by Brodzinski with four power play goals.  Jonny BrodzinskiJB AT 50: Jonny Brodzinski posted his 50th career goal with the Huskies with his second goal of the evening on Nov. 21. He notched the goal at 9:43 of the third period, which iced the contest for the Huskies at 3-1. He is the 18th player in the Division I history of the hockey program to reach the 50-goal plateau at SCSU. In 92 consecutive games played as a Husky, Brodzinski has 50 goals, 35 assists and 85 points... Brodzinski had three points (2g/1a) during SCSU's win on Nov. 21. On the season, Brodzinski has charted scored three points apiece in three seperate games for the Huskies in 2014-15.
COLLEGE FIRST: Nathan Widman added his first collegiate assist with the first assist on Jonny Brodzinski's game winner on Nov. 21 vs. UND. On the season, Widman now has one goal and one assist.
CAREER HIGH: Sophomore goalie Charlie Lindgren tallied a career-high 36 saves in SCSU's 3-2 loss to #2 North Dakota on Nov. 22. Lindgren posted 62 saves during the weekend series against North Dakota that moved his season record to 5-6-1. In 2014-15, Lindgren owns a 2.41 goals against average and a .915 save rate. He has earned the start for the Huskies in all 12 games this season.
STRONG START: Rookie Patrick Russell owns a team leading four game point streak headed into the Huskies series at Bemidji State on Nov. 28-29. Russell recorded an assist on Nov. 21 and scored his third goal of the year on Nov. 22. In 12 games for the Huskies this season, Russell has three goals and six assists.
TEAM NOTES AND NEWS: The Huskies have outshot their opponents 351-338 during the 2014-15 campaign...Ethan Prow coined his second goal of the 2014-15 season with the first goal of the game on Nov. 21 vs. UND. In three seasons with the Huskies, Prow now has nine goals and 34 assists... The early stat leaders for the Huskies this season include Jonny Brodzinski with seven goals and 11 points, while Kalle Kossila paces the squad with seven assists in 2014-15... Sophomore blueliner Niklas Nevalainen added his first point of the season with the lone assist on Joey Benik's second period goal against UND on Nov. 22.
HUSKIES HOCKEY HISTORY: Bemidji State owns a the distinction of playing in SCSU's final game as an NCAA Division III affiliate. The Huskies posted a 6-4 win over BSU in the third place game at the 1987 NCAA Division III championships. The following season, SCSU moved to the NCAA Division I level and did not resume the series against BSU until the 1999-00 season. Current Bemidji State head coach Tom Serratore previously served as an assistant coach for the Huskies under Craig Dahl. Current SCSU assistant coach Mike Gibbons earned All-America honors as a player at Bemidji State and went on to serve as an assistant coach at BSU from 1981-82 and was the interim head coach at BSU during the 1982-83 season.
SCSU VS. BSU: The Huskies will resume their longtime series against non-conference rival Bemidji State on Nov. 28-29. Last year, the Huskies scored a 3-2 win and a 2-2 tie to open the 2013-14 season on Oct. 11-12 at the HBNHC. At the NCAA Division I since 1999, the Huskies own a 17-3-1 series edge against the Beavers. Prior to SCSU's move to the NCAA Division I level in 1987-88, Bemidji State owned a 41-27-3 series lead against the Huskies.
