St. Cloud State Women's head coach, Eric Rud, has announced the additions of Hannah Potrykus of Brighton, Michigan; Megan Lalor of St. Albert, Alberta; Jordan Stewart of Machesney Park, Illinois; and Ivy Dynek of Northfield, Illinois. The four high school seniors have signed letters of intent and will join the Huskies' squad in the fall for the 2015-16 season.
Hannah Potrykus: Potrykus, the daughter of Steve and MaryBeth Potrykus, is a 5'4 forward who is apart of the USA Hockey Club of Michigan. So far this season, Potrykus has played in 20 games with the USA Hockey Club and already has 9 goals and 9 assists for a total of 18 points, and has recorded 68 shots on net. She has been a participant in the USA National Development Camp when she attended in 2013.
When asked why she chose St. Cloud: "I believe in the coaching staff and what the program has to offer. They have a group of girls who are determined, committed and work hard…leading to success, which is a team I want to be apart of."
Coach Rud's Thoughts: "Hannah has scored goals at every level she has played at. She is a fierce competitor and will be a great addition to our program."
Ivy Dynek: Dynek is the daughter of Ralph and Julie Dynek, and youngest sibling of five. She is a 5'8 forward, who is currently apart of the Chicago Young American U19 club team. Dynek leads her team with 19 goals and 8 assists for 27 total points this season. In the 2013-14 season, Dynek played for the CYA U16 team where she logged 42 goals and 35 assists. She has many hockey accomplishments in her career. She earned the New Trier H..S varsity girls' hockey top scorer award in 2013-14, along with being the CYA Tier 1 High Performance Hockey League top scorer. She has been named to both the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois and Blackhawk alumni association HS All-State teams. She has six championship titles under her belt, has participated in the Central district Camp from 2010-2014 and was a National Camp alternate in 2013-14.
When asked why she chose St. Cloud: "I am so excited to go to St. Cloud because I plan to study Early childhood education or sports medicine; St. Cloud has strong programs for both majors. I am so excited to play in the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center, and I am over the moon excited for my coaching. Playing Division I hockey has been my life long dream, and I'm ready to move on to the next level."
Coach Rud's Thoughts: "I really feel that Ivy's best hockey has yet to come. She led in points at the U16 AAA level and is currently leading her team as well. I'm excited to see how her offense will translate in the WCHA."
Jordan Stewart: Stewart is the daughter of Don and Robin, and grew up with two older brothers. She is a forward who plays for the Chicago Young Americans U19, along with Ivy Dynek. In the 2013-14 season, Stewart played in 56 games, scoring 9 goals and had 14 assists. This season she has played in 35 games, tallying 5 goals and 5 assists for 10 total points. She played in the Rockford Hockey Club Boys AA NIHL Elite program from Mites through 2nd year Bantam, where she wore the C and A on her jersey for 3 years. She still plays in boys hockey along with CYA U19, as she is listed on the Rockford Icemen boys high school team. Stewart also attended the National Development camp in 2012.
When asked why she chose St. Cloud: "I chose St. Cloud because it is a beautiful campus and has a lot to offer. I like everything about this school and the ice rink is also amazing! Educationally, SCSU is a highly ranked school. I feel like I will fit in really well at this school and will be very successful"
Coach Rud's Thoughts: "Jordan is an elite skater with a very aggressive style of hockey. She comes to us with an experienced background having played with many high level teams."
Megan Lalor: Lalor comes from Alberta, Canada, where her family of five resides. Both her older brother and younger sister also play hockey at an elite level. Lalor is a part of the St. Albert Midget AAA Slash, where she has scored 14 goals and 7 assists in her 18 games this season. In the 2013-14 season, she played for the Pursuit of Excellence. She played in 29 games, getting 13 goals and 16 assists. Lalor has played at the Provincial level where she was a participant in the 2012 and 2014 U18 Team Alberta camps. In 2011, she played in the U16 Alberta cup and in the 2012 Alberta Winter Games. She has also been named to the 2014 Midget AAA All-Star team.
When asked why she chose St. Cloud: "I chose St. Cloud for multiple reasons, but I think the most significant was that I fell in love with the city and the campus, even in the midst of a full on snow storm when I visited last spring. Second, the coaching staff have inspired confidence in me and have established a great rapport with me and have already made me feel like I am a Husky. Finally, I believe that St. Cloud is the optimum place for me to go to school and play hockey so that I can follow my dreams in both of these areas."
Coach Rud's Thoughts: "Megan is leading her team in scoring and is second in her league for points. She is a feisty competitor who is showing to be an elite offensive talent."
