MSU Moorhead downs Huskies, 98-85 in NSIC men's basketball action

St. Cloud, Minn. – St. .Cloud State junior guard Jordan Poydras (Los Angeles, Calif.) scored a game high 31 points, all in the second half, but it wasn't enough as the Huskies fell to #14 Minnesota State University Moorhead 98-85 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) basketball action Friday night.
St. Cloud State is 5-4 overall and 2-2 in the NSIC. MSU Moorhead improved to 11-0 overall and 4-0 in the NSIC. The Huskies will host Northern State, 58-50 winners over Minnesota Duluth, Saturday at 6 p.m.
After being held to three shot attempts in the first half, Poydras made ten of 17 field goal attempts, was five of seven from beyond the arc and six of nine from the free throw line in the second half. He was one point shy of his career high of 32 points. He also came away with a game high three steals and pulled down five rebounds.
MSU Moorhead had five players, including four starters, score in double figures and were led by senior guard Jordan Riewer. Riewer score 19 points and dished out four assists.
The Dragons led by 25 points at the 7:45 mark of the second half and the closest the Huskies could get was 11 points six times in the final minute and a half.
Huskies Tip-ins
Kevin Levandoski, Scottie Stone and Connor Niehaus all scored in double figures. Levandoski finished the game with 12 points, while Stone and Niehaus had ten points each.
Eddie Alcantara led the Huskies with a season high seven rebounds.
The Huskies shot 51.7 percent from the field, 44.4 percent from three point range and 65.4 percent from the free throw line.
The Huskies out rebounded the Dragons, 35-32.
