Men's basketball falls to Northern State, 91-77

St. Cloud, Minn. -- A solid shooting performance propelled Northern State to a 91-77 win over St. Cloud State in NSIC men's basketball action Saturday night. The Wolves shot 57.8 percent from the field for the game.
St. Cloud State is 5-5 overall and 2-3 in the NSIC. The Huskies will play at the University of Minnesota Duluth next Saturday, Dec. 20. Northern State improved to 10-1 overall and 4-1 in the NSIC.
For the second straight night St. Cloud State junior guard Jordan Poydras (Los Angeles, Calif.) scored in double figures with a game high 21 points. He made ten of 12 free throw attempts and dished out a game high six assists.
Northern State held a nine point lead with 13 minutes left in the first half when the Huskies went on a 14-4 run in the next seven minutes to take their first lead of the game, 22-21. Six different Huskies scored during the run. Northern State took a five point lead with three minutes to play and the Wolves held a 36-34 lead at halftime.
A traditional three point play by senior center James Fort (South Haven, Minn.) on a dunk and a free throw to start the second half gave the Huskies a 37-36 lead. The Wolves went on to build a 14 point lead for the win.
Huskies Tip-Ins
Northern State
Seth Bachand posted a double double with 13 points and ten rebounds.Five Wolves scored in double figures led by Mitch White with 24 points.
Skye Warwick was four of six from three-point range and finished the night with 14 points.
DJ Pollard had 11 points, 8 rebounds and Michael Schreiber finished with ten points.Northern State shot 58.3 percent in the first half and 57.1 percent in the second half. The Wolves were 45 percent from beyond the arc and made 30 of 35 free throws.
